Aye, I said when he was called up it might be good for him to get a bit of time in each game to get him up to speed (or, at least, a bit sharper) before he plays against Huddersfield.
And the more I think about it, it's a good thing because it's either kill or cure. Time's running out and we can't just keep hoping for him to be fit. We need to know which lads we can rely on for the last few games and if it's not going to be him then we can throw all our focus on the ones who we are going to have to rely on.
There's a danger of it becoming a distraction and anything, no matter how small, that distracts us from focusing absolutely and solely on the job in hand can only be a bad thing.
If he plays and breaks down, send him back, be done with him-as we were. If he comes through, great- job's a good-un and he can be an upgrade on Gayle.
Could we get a refund under trade descriptions
Not fit for purpose???
Or is the guarantee void us knowingly buying damaged goods out of the bargain bin???
😆😆😆
well done rafa
spunk your budget on some sick note
and dont have the control to say he aint fit for his club so he cant go on international duties
"Friendly matches on fixed/set dates
These matches take priority over matches in a national championship. In other words, matches
in the national championship or cup competition should not be arranged on one of the fixed/set
dates.
A club holding the registration of a player called up to play in the national team must release
him to the national association on the fixed/set dates for international matches in each calendar
year (see enclosure “Coordinated International Match Calendar 2002 – 2004”). The matches
may be qualifying matches as defined under Art. 36 Paragraph 2a), or friendly matches.
The player shall also be released for the period of preparation. For a friendly match, this period
shall be 48 hours (Paragraph 5a). "

Nice try, but you can't blame Rafa for this one.
If clubs could stop players being released for friendlies then they all would. Even if the club says the player is unfit to play, I believe that the national side has the right to demand that they carry out a fitness test.
So if he is fit for the national side why not us
We had a friendly a few days ago
And clubs do stop players going if they are injured and can be proven
I see this as a shot to nothing. Must have been close to fitness to go in the first place. If he comes back with minutes under the belt, healthy and plays in the next game for us then it will have been a masterstroke. If he breaks down after 10 minutes and comes back fked...well then, thats different with questions to be asked about it.
