    Bogey Teams

Replying to a post on the chelsea thread about our head to head record against them, got me thinking:

I wonder which team we have the best win ratio against. Conversely, which team is our nemesis (chesterfield springs to mind, but prior to the 70s we did actually used to beat them).

Prior to the 2 cup ties with Northampton when they beat us and denied us our date with Man U, we’d beaten them on the previous 10 meetings.

Wednesday at home is s bit of jinx, regardless of position or form we've not beaten them in a league match at home since 1976!

    Hopefully that’ll change Saturday

I think it could possibly be Lincoln, as I once read somewhere that they are the team we have met most often in our history. Just looked up our record against them and it is:
    Played 94
    Won 49
    Drawn 21
    Lost 24

Could be patty. Our record against donny isn't too shabby either:

    Won 40
    Drawn 22
    Lost 22

Saw us win 1-0 at Oakwell in the early 70s. Think Neil Warnock was playing for us on the wing in that game. We haven't had a good record more recently.

Very early 70s Mike. August 1970 we beat them 1-0 in the league cup
Last league win at Oakwell was 2-0 in Dec 1969.
Overall situation is fairly even with us winning 17 drawing 14 and losing 21.
They've definitely been a bogey team in latter years with us winning only one in the last 14 .

We have one of the sons of Barnsley to thank for that. No not Dickie Bird or Michael Parkinson, the one and only Trevor Kettle, at least I think he must be from Barnsley

Perhaps his mother is a Barnsley lass. No-one knows who his father is.
