Looks like we are holding all the cards for a change.
We were never going to sign him in January. It suited both party's to do it at the end of the season.
Brighton wanted a fee and towell didn't want to loose his 5 figure weekly wage.
June he's a free agent. Do we want to sign him as one of our top earners? Is there better options for the money ?
If we go down will be want to earn a 1/3 of what he's getting now?..
Give him a deal that includes 10 litres of tooth whitener.
No way will this happen, he his not worth more wages than Smith, Ajayi, Robertson, Mattock, Vaulks or Williams ?
Fully agree,we have to be careful not to agree a deal, which will probably upset players, who are more skillful, having agreed to lower wages. However, what we should be doing is offering better contracts, to the above mentioned. It makes no economic sense, to allow a very good player to run out his contract and receive nothing at all.Tie these good players down NOW.We have not invested in new players coming in ,therefore there are funds there, that should be used to extend these contracts.
Get him signed up,he wants to play for RUFC,you don't hear that very often from a player.
