If We Fail To Go Up This Season

I can see the nucleus of this squad or should I say team as we haven't really got a squad wanting away , just can't see them wanting to play another season in league one .

Davies , Cavare , Lindsay , Pinnock , Mowatt and possibly Thiam and Woodrow will all believe they can play at a higher level .

Most of these players are heading towards the final year of their contracts in any case and we all know how that ends historically .

I take the point we would most likely lose Davies , Pinnock and Lindsay even if we do manage to get promoted .

By definition that means a substantial rebuild of the squad this summer with at least 8 new arrivals .

To put this in to some kind of perspective we will start the new season in league one with Jordan Williams , Callum Styles , Jordan Green and George Miller in serious contention , a new goalkeeper , two fresh centre backs and a right back plus hopefully McGeehan , Moore and Pinillos and the new recruits .

You could make a case both McGeehan and Moore could also leave .

You are looking at a difficult transition next season with all the inconsistencies in results we are all too familiar with .

A top half finish would be a realistic shout and anything else a massive bonus .

It'll be like this every season so let's get used to it Animal. Chop and change, no solid platform to work from, no real overall direction. Let's face it, the lack of major outgoing transfers last summer was darn to nobody wanting relegated players. Only person of any note who left was Bradshaw, the rest were liabilities. Hoss and Goat feeding us the line that they wanted to keep the core of the squad together. Ballax that in my opinion, call me a cynic but they'd have sold if the offers came in otherwise why sell Bradshaw or Potts? 2 players for me with massive credentials at this level who would've almost guaranteed us an automatic promotion berth had they still been here.

How long will Stendel hack this? It must feel to him like the blackjack dealer constantly has an ace and his basecard is always a 5. I feel for any head coach working with their hands tied like that. We've had far too many set backs this season yet somehow we're still in with a shout, some achievement in my eyes considering some of the set backs were self inflicted. Will it get better or ever change? I kind of doubt it.

I’ve made that point Animal,on another thread. This team, regardless of promotion or not is definitely not going to be a platform. It’s a one shot, this season amd this season only.
I think we will be up for sale, the moment the brass from the sale of all the leavers and possible leavers you list.

If Stendel receives anything like a decent offer back home at one of the Bundesliga 2 clubs for example my advice would be to take it while his stock is relatively high .

This club will feck your career up if you hang around a day longer than you need to .

Don't put your name to a squad rebuild here Daniel , it never ends well and these feckers will blame you for the results despite the fact they are the ones who own it .

I sincerely don't wish to see you end up like Hecky did , far too much respect for you for that .

Thing is I think Stendel has genuinely warmed to this club, you can see by the way he talks about us. He's learned the lingo pretty fast and integrated himself into the culture, he gets us and understands us and what we're abart. Leaving may not be as easy for him as it would some money grabbing player. Perhaps when the job becomes untenable things may change, everybody has a breaking point afterall

I’d be gone like a shot I were him....... He has been done a kipper, and the job becomes untenable when your ambition is held back by the ambition of the owners. Heckingbottom left because the old owners wanted to sell. The new owners then backed him with nothing.
Folk were perhaps understanding more when players wanted to get out as we were in the Championship and those that left went to maintain that Championship status with a 100% surety.
This season, the new owners have raided the fridge whilst we were in a great position, and they expect us to suck up the fact that we will lose them again for the same reason.
I’ve already renewed, I don’t regret it, I won’t give more than I need to next season. I fully expect the new owners to be gone soon

Av not forgotten thi stat frum a while back Pass--

"In the last ten Third Division seasons 29 arta the 30 clubs gerrin promoted edda British manager who knew the score at this level, the odd wun art being Gus Poyet who laiked here".

Stendel has done a great job, even given he edda strong first team for this level to work with in August but subsequently weakened by sales, injuries and failure to strengthen.

If the blame game starts if we fail to go up will the owners back him by not dismantling the squad and say go again ?

If we go up will the owners back him with three or four Championship quality players to give him a chance ?

You know as well as I do SB what he will be expected to receive in recruitment and where the bar will be set .

They will raise around £6m from the sale of the cream of the squad and he'll get £2m to replace them with and the expectation of promotion .

The sound bites from the club will say " we have provided Daniel and his staff with one of the most competitive budgets in the league "

Which will be true but dig down in to the weeds and it will reveal raw young lads , the majority stepping up from a lower level and expected to hit the ground running .

Summer 2017 just rinse and repeat .

No if's about it for me. I can't see where the next win is coming from the way they're playing at the minute. I can accept tiredness and wotnot but to me there looks to be a few players floating along. It's garbage at the minute and has been on more than one occasion this season. Fans have put up with it due to results being better than average.

That's unacceptable. There have been some shockers at home to boot. Walsall, Plymouth, Wimbledon, Burton. That's eight points p1ssed away not because of poor recruitment but poor play.
