Tough one for me but I go World Cup.
The World Cup is going to be a monumental fk up by England in my opinion.
Pressure will be too much and we won’t even make the semis.
I’d prefer to win the ashes but until they get decent openers and a number three they’ll struggle.
I’d play Jason Roy and the young lad Banton from Somerset as openers and bowler Joffra Archer in the tests.
World cup for me , we have won the ashes before & know doubt will win them again .
I will probably never see Albion win anything in my life time so hope it's the cricket team , 🏴
Great day. If you haven't seen Stokes catch do so. Southampton next for me.
Hadn't heard of Banton before Saturday's final. He's only played 2 first class games and has a top score of 30 and an average of 12 so can't see how you consider him ready for Test Match cricket v Aus.
Top 3 is a massive problem I would get Roy in to open with Burns and on current form you have to get Gary Ballance in the side. Also like James Vince.
Having said all that none of them actually fill me with confidence.
Banton’s form in the 50 over competition was fantastic.....two hundreds and three 50’s and a superb 69 in his first ever Lords final on Saturday.
Composed and elegant with an array of shots and a defence as well and the old pro’s who’ve seen him are raving about him,I suggest you take a look on YouTube.
I know my cricket as well as most avid fans and like I knew Broad was nailed on at 18 to be a world beater I feel this kid is the real deal.
Number of games played so far is irrelevant,if you’re good enough you’re old enough and class is permanent.
I saw Gower bat at 18 and knew he was going to be a star.
Rory Burns isn’t.....to many moving parts before delivery, like watching a batsman with Tourette’s......not a chance of him making it.
Same with Jennings.....too wooden....no hope!
Vince is lovely to watch but concentration seems to be his problem.
We are so bad in the top three that with Starc and the rest running in we’re likely to be 30-50 for three in most matches so I’d take a different approach.
I’d open with Roy/Banton or Roy/Bairstow and try caning the first 5-10 overs to get the Aussies ruffled and if we get off to a flyer I’d bat Vince at three.
If we lose an early wicket I’d move Root up to three to settle things.
Our 50 over side have broken the mould of 50 over play and I think we need to do the same in test cricket and try something radical.
Just imagine England 80-100 for none after an hours play in the first test and 160-200 for one or two at lunch!
You could take a game away from the Aussies by tea in the first day.
I’d love to see us try it rather than watch Jennings and Burns poke around in the dark and then Ballance get trapped playing away from his body on the back foot like he so often does and be three down with Root and Stokes under massive pressure.
Maybe a few years from now you’ll remember what I’ve said about Banton 923 when he’s a regular.
This lad is class.

You could be right about Banton as one for the future. I truly hope you are as we desperately some batsmen. Don't convince me convince Somerset as he is not currently being selected to play in their first team.
I agree about Root. As Captain and our best batsman he should step up and fill the void.
Can anyone tell me what Moeen Ali brings to the table at the moment. He is not the biggest spinner of the ball and his his batting has been woeful the last couple of seasons.
Morning All
The Ashes we must win don’t want to lose to the smith and Warner cheats the World Cup a bonus
Come on England
