    O/T Landlords...

My dad works as an electrical engineer and he wants to replace our electric hob with an induction hob. The landlord says we can't install it unless my dad gives us properly registered documentation because of the insurance.

I've looked into this and as it's electrical it shouldn't need any official document because it just plugs in. It says checks aren't compulsory but advisable.

It also says that checks are the responsibility of the landlord. Is our landlord talking out of his arsoil?

A think with induction hobs it's not just a case of plugging it in like a TV Ponte. It ez to be wired directly into the hob cable terminals using wire greater than the normal 13 amp because of cable heating. A think it also ez to be supplied from a separate oven spur ie through a switch box near the cooker. Tha can't just plug it into a normal plug socket
Am guessing the landlord wants it installed by a qualified electrician who is registered to be competent and able to provide a Certificate of satisfactory installation.
I'm a house owner rather than a tenant but eddto go through all this pallaver when I ed kitchen rewired last year.
