Not to the people who live near the lines.

It won't take a lot of traffic off the roads anyway, it's not freight and only the rich will be able to afford it, it will probably reduce the number of internal flights.

Look at how France managed a similar project on much lower costs.

This will be £150 billion, maybe £200 billion by the time it's finished, it's an almost literal gravy train.

This project will run way over budget. With lots of juicy £billion contracts up for grabs there'll be plenty of opportunity for fraud. The SFO will have their work cut out with this one.
