Options for finishing (or not) the League season

Personally, I think the early April restart date is never going to happen. If that is the case, what are the viable options for dealing with the remaining games?

First off, I'd say that if the games can't be completed, then you can't have relegation or promotion in any of the leagues...in such extreme circumstances it's not about whether something is fair or unfair, it's about what is the fairest of a range of unpalatable options.

I've just heard one of the presenters on 5Live saying that for the integrity of the League then this season's fixtures must be completed and he said that even if it takes until November or whatever and the following season is reduced to 18 games then that's what should happen.

For me, that's a bit of an arsey position to take. I don't think the 'integrity' of the league is at question as if football is more important than anything else? Every industry-entertainment, business, etc- is having to make drastic changes so it just is what it is-I don't think, going forward, the integrity of the league will be damaged at all. Anyway, I digress...(Thought it was quite funny when Bruce said we're here to entertain the supporters, btw....)

With the Euros being inevitably cancelled then there'll be more time to finish the League if games do manage to start again. If that pushes the start date of next season into September then one way of clawing back some time would be to get rid of those ridiculous international friendly weekends.

If the games can't be rescheduled then I think you just have to say ok, we'll start next season with the same teams in each league with European positions allocated according to their current position. And if the League fixtures aren't completed, can you realistically award the Champions title in each division?

    What do you all think?

Where are Messrs Duckworth and Lewis when you need them!

I think that we should see relegation and promotion of the clubs obviously going down - Norwich aren't gonna turn it around for example.

West Brom have won the Chimpo more or less barring a nightmare.

We have several major powerful computers which can be used to model the run in to each season I would prefer they aggregate the scores by running the models 100 times or so to get a median response.

The bigger picture is that we humans are so arrogant whilst being so vulnerable. This should be a massive lesson to all leaders and governments... but you all know as well as I do... that it won't!

The problem with relegating or promoting teams who 'deserve' it is that they have to be replaced. In some cases that will match up-West Brom for Norwich, for example but the knock-on effect in each league could mean that one team could be promoted by sheer luck even though injuries/suspensions/form etc meant that they were about to slip down the league.

Leave it as it is that means the Mackems spend another year in the Third Division

As to not penalise first and second in each division give them 6 & 4 bonus points to start off the new season

Every team has to play each other twice.
if they don’t it’s an unfair advantage on some teams and bad on others.so there can’t be any winners ,euro places or relegations without firstly playing all matches.
We could resume all league matches with the same points Next season and same teams to play and have all relegations euro places and cups then start the new season After that with the newly promoted teams but only play 1 set of matches.

Personally if it doesn't get finished and i don't think it will.

The league should be started with all the same teams next season.

I wouldn't begrudge Liverpool the title because they aren't going to be caught but that is about it.

No relegations, no changes to European teams etc.

It's also not like we're the only league this will effect.
