If the sale goes through would your first choice manager be Rafa?
For me: yes. I think he would bring a buzz like no other manager and I’d love to see what he could do with some backing and the whole city behind him.

I think the team, the fans and the whole of Tyneside would just take off with Ashley gone and Rafa in charge with some decent backing. Exciting times that's for sure.
He could get his project after all. Ideal manager to build the club for first few years at least.
im not sure i'd want Rafa to come back.
He has moved on and we have moved on. His release clause is something like 20m too isnt it?
Wasn't it in the paper that Staveley had sounded out Max Alegri as a potential manager?
How about Steve Bruce
Rafa please 🙏🙏
Rafa is the obvious choice.
The thing is Rafa would instantly be able to come in and know where the changes are needed to be made, from weaknesses in the squad all the way through to the out dated training facilities.
And he already has a good relationship with the fans.
He is a man of high integrity and morals.
I think had he been backed to the same extent as brucie he would still be here.
Alegri or maybe pochetino I would have over bruciesaurus any day.
Umm....being absolutely honest?
No, I wouldn't. Don t get me wrong, I love the guy and agree with everything that's been said about the type of man he is...all that.
But....for me, I'd want a manager with a more entertaining, attacking style of football. It will be a new era and I want fresh ideas, different ideas, a different direction. I want someone who would take the game to the opposition, make them worry about us rather than try to counter their strengths first and hope to hit them on the break. If we're talking about building a team like that (well, I am, anyway 😁 then either Pochettino or someone like him.
Is someone like him realistic? I honestly don't know but these guys will be serious if they do become our new owners so why not.
Rafa is part of our past, not our future.
Sorry. Have I just committed heresy? 😳
Good post, agree completely.
And no, you have not committed heresy For me, it's possible to be a big fan of Rafa and what he did here while also being aware that the football was hideous at times; while in turn not going down the Ghost-road of saying that it was always terrible and that Rafa's a mercenary etc.
Rafa did well for us, and he was a gentleman. Now, as it looks like we might be entering a new era (knock on wood), Allegri or Poch would suit me just fine.
I would also be happy with Nagelsmann.
