    Burnley reject, Burnley reject.

Who says there are no bargains at the top level in football ? Fortuna Dusseldorf seem to have found one, currently 5th top scorer in the Bundesliga, 15 goals from 26 league and Cup games, and they picked him up on a free transfer from............Burnley.

    Ah well.

When we were in Dusseldorf in December the locals did not even know he had come back from Burnley.

Oddly like me, they were not that impressed with him either.

That's very odd BT, by the time of their winter break just before Xmas he'd scored 13 goals in 18 games for them, but you're saying they weren't even aware he was playing for them, never mind banging goals in for fun. Maybe they were putting you away, even though us English don't think so, they do have a sense of humour the Germans.

No! I didn't mean that sinkov. I meant they never knew he had been with Burnley, prior to him signing with Fortuna.

Ah I see now BT, I suppose you can't blame them, he made so little impression when he was here there might be some Burnley fans didn't know he'd been here either.

No, I missed that one Supersub6. It seems strange to me that SD does not seem to get along footie wise with "Johnny Foreigner".

I think that they got on OK, however, he was a bit unlucky that he did not get a proper chance because, as he says, we were scoring goals so he had to wait his turn.
He was a good technical player but I think that he was caught out by the physicality and pace of the game which is far different to the German game and always has been.
He was having a good season until everything ground to a halt and good luck to him.

I was still a regular back then and my memory of him is that he looked out of his depth every time I saw him, and that was in the Championship. OK he wasn't starting, which must have made it more difficult for him, but he didn't look worth a start and there were no complaints from anyone when he was loaned back to Germany.
