Who Am I Quiz (No 49)

Try this one for size. I'll post new clues regularly (at least daily). I won't be responding to guesses until someone is correct. Guess as many times as you like. There's no O/T in the title so obviously it's football related. Here we go. Good luck.

I was once sent off for doing something that's just part of the game.

I scored a famous goal in a famous game that never actually finished.

Y'all. My last career goal had an American connection.

Well done Casper. Never even got around to thinking up all my clues including one about him scoring 6 goals in an FA Cup game for Man City against Luton which was abandoned and they lost the replayed game 3-1.

    I am Denis Law

I was once sent off for doing something that's just part of the game. Taking a throw in against my manager's wishes at Torino. He was so incensed he told the ref to send me off, so he did!

I scored a famous goal in a famous game that never actually finished. The back heel against Man Utd. The game was abandoned due to a pitch invasion after 85 minutes but the result stood as it had no impact on the league outcome.

Y'all. My last career goal had an American connection. In the long forgotten Texaco Cup for Man City against Sheff Utd at Bramall Lane in August 1974.

    Unpublished clues

Playing for one team, they took brown paper envelopes to a new level. Torino. Paid us with bags of money if we won and got nothing if we lost.

I missed the biggest game of my life due to injury. 1968 European Cup Final

I cost a lot of money on a number of occasions. I was the record transfer 3 times in the space of a couple of years. 55k Huddersfield-Man City, 110k Man City-Torino, 115k Torino-Man Utd.
