    Fleetwood game

You could see the high skill-level Chapman has.
I take it his attitude has been the problem.
Definitely shaky at the back in the first half, mainly through poor communication.
I thought Buckley again looked confident on the ball.
This Dolan is another skillful player. I can see why we signed him.
Some people are criticising Williams on the Telegraph site. I thought he played well!
Brereton certainly went looking for the ball. He's sometimes clumsy, but at other times, he beats a man easily. He is not a target-man, though. If anyone is going to be used in that role, it will have to be Gallagher.
    Lots of possible combinations.

Well positives to be had from this game and a couple of negatives.
Brereton if given support could be a crucial player for us.
Doyle looked great and Chapman looked a new player,so a possible solution to the wing problems.
Williams looked ok and worth keeping as a squad member but we still need a decent centre half to partner lenihan.
The need for a keeper is apparent, dont get me wrong both lads did ok but a commanding keeper is a must, let's hope the new keeper when he signs is the answer.
Still a little concerned with our full backs but this is nothing new.
We have known for a for a while that defensively we are not good enough but as time ticks on,what we saw yesterday could be what we have to put up with.

The first-choice keeper situation seems to be in hand with Kaminski, but I am puzzled as to how we're going to get another one in.
What standard will he be - if he's willing to sit on the bench all season? We might as well have kept Leutwiler!
Clearly, the experienced centre-back is now the key.
I actually think Willaims is fine for the bench, anyway, covering left-back as well.
To be honest, in a purely defensive sense, I think he's a safer bet in that latter position than Bell.
There are good things about Bell's game, but he looked much better on the occasions when we played three at the back, and he was a wing-back.
The positives for me at the moment are Buckley and Rankin-Costello. Both look at home at this level.
Buckley seems to get hold of the ball more than Holtby or Johnson.
To be honest, I still have no clue what Holtby's best position is, and I could probably say the same for Rothwell.
I have to bite the bullet now, and say that perhaps Armstrong can play as the No. 9 after all (alongside Gallagher?). I used to be very sceptical about that, but he did get two of the scruffy goals that used to be absent from his game. In any case, he doesn't contribute much in terms of defensive duties when he's played wider, so we might as well have him in the box.
To me, Brereton looks best when given a free role between midfield and attack. The trouble is, that's probably Dack's best position too. (And Holtby? And Rothwell?)
I see Rich Sharpe is suggesting we need another central midfielder. Just can't see it myself.
I think we are reasonably well equipped in front of the back five, so I think TM should definitely be focused on defenders only.
i see there are still rumours about Cunningham returning.
    Anyone heard anything concrete?

Yep I too have heard that one aucks and I would be happy with that if he is fully over his injury.
We could do with a winger or 2 but the centre back role is the one we should concentrate on,as for back up keeper I thing eastham showed promise.

They are hoping to sign another keeper in the next few days. This new lad has to quarantine for 14 days so will not be available. Eastham is a good prospect, but at just turning 18 he is way too young. Fisher clearly isn't ready (or possibly not good enough) the idea is Eastham moves up to the U-23's, Fisher goes on loan and we sign a new back-up keeper. Who will be playing on Sat vrs Doncaster.
Not sure on Cunningham. personally I think its a luxury we simply can't afford. If they sold Bell and let Williams go, I would understand. But surley we dont need 3 LB's aswell as JRC. CH remains the next top priority. They are waiting to free up the wages once Mulgrew leaves (which they are hopeful to have finalised this week, he is joining a Div1 team)

No mention of outgoings from you there for the first time. Are you feeling more positive we can keep our team together now?

I'm just puzzled why we are getting into more and more debt. We haven't even announced season tickets yet. Most other clubs have. Bolton have sold 3,000. They could sell Armstrong and survive without him. And get in a few more players to strengthen the squad. I'd rather he stayed. But I just think all this is short-termism. And without an income, Rovers can only go so far.
I'll still watch with interest, but I'm failing to excited for the first time in my adult life.
