Ardley should've played him more. Same with Crawford. Well done Ardley

He was deffo a 'keeper'. It must be the amount of wages we've offered. Can't see him leaving for any other reason.

Don’t think it’s anything to do with money. It’s clear that he’s behind Enzio and Roberts in the pecking order and at his age he wanted to be playing regular first team football. It’s a shame as I think with the amount midweek games this season we could have rotated the 3 of them really effectively

He wants regular 1st team football, something that no academy player ever gets at Notts County!! He should have played more games for sure. I'm sure he'll be playing EFL football before Notts County will be. Good luck to him.

Think he's seen other players who he was in the academy with drop down, get game time and end up in league 1. To be fair, he wasn't getting in above Enzio, Roberts and would be battling Rodrigues as a second winger most likely

Sam Osborne has decided to leave Meadow Lane to pursue more regular first-team opportunities elsewhere.

The 21-year-old winger, who graduated from our academy, had been offered a deal to stay but feels it’s time to move on to pastures new.

“This has been one of the most difficult decisions of my life,” said Osborne.

“Having been at Notts for so long, and being a Beeston lad, the club is a massive part of me and always will be.

“I’m really grateful for the opportunities the manager gave me last season and the memories of my two goals and the part I played in helping us reach Wembley and the Trophy semis will live with me forever.

“But I’m at an age where my priority has to be getting regular game time and, following discussions with my family, friends and the club, I’ve decided the best option is for me to move on.

“I would like to thank everyone, including the fans, for the incredible support they’ve shown me. There’s no doubt in my mind that Notts are moving in the right direction and I’m sure it won’t be long until we’re back in the EFL.

“I’m proud of everything I’ve achieved at Meadow Lane, including winning back-to-back Young Player of the Season awards, and I’m now looking forward to continuing my development by playing more regular first-team football.”

Everyone at Notts wishes Ozzy the best of luck for the next chapter of his career.

It’s a shame but perfectly understandable. Ardley has never been one for throwing youngsters in and, coupled with our much improved recruitment system, it makes it very hard for young players to break through. There’s not even reserve games now to maintain your sharpness.
It’s a shame though as I always felt he had something to offer. In our relegation season, he was always one of the stand out players in the reserves, not that that was difficult, but was never given a chance.
    I wish him well.

What are you talking about? This rhetoric is complete b*llocks and needs to stop imo, Ardley has always been one for throwing in youngsters - Ben Barclay, Ryan Schofield, Sam Stubbs, Sam Graham, Joel Bagan, Adam Long, Virgil Gomis, Pierce Bird, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Dion Kelly Evans, Regan Booty, Sam Osborne, Kyle Wootton and Cal Roberts are all 23 or under and have all played under Neal Ardley. You can argue that a lot of those aren't "our youngsters" but that's not Neal's fault, if he thinks they're good enough he will bring them in and play them, end of.

    ---

I'm pleased Osborne has made the brave (and correct imo) decision to broaden his horizons, he had no divine right to start ahead of probably the best winger in the division in Cal Roberts and Enzio can also play on the right wing so all this "he should have played more is nonsense", he did need to be playing regular football and unfortunately for him he's too far down the pecking order to get that here.

I do think he was massively over rated because he was local, ala Scott Loach, Terry Hawkridge, Haydn Hollis and Pierce Bird who all seemed to be able to do no wrong and had glowing reviews when they joined their new clubs because of their local ties. If Osbourne had been from Holland and managed 2 goals in 13 appearances, a lot of them offering very little else then god help him, nobody would've batted an eyelid about him leaving and I'd go as far as to say that people might have even been annoyed he was even offered a deal, his performances were really nothing special.

The bottom line is Ardley offered him a contract, he wanted first team football and rightfully wasn't going to be guaranteed that here so moving on was the best option for him. I wish him all the best.

Good luck to him, I don't believe there's any hidden agenda here, he simply wants first team footie and is too far down the pecking order at Notts currently for that to happen. He's a likeable lad and has potential. What's the betting he pops up at Boston before the week's out?

    Very disappointing indeed.

I'm pleased that we are now getting better at recruiting players, but we need to have the same awareness of the talent already in our own camp and work harder to keep them. Whenever Ozzy was given a chance - and it wasn't often - he played well and looked a real threat. If he had struggled and looked too lightweight I could understand it, but he didn't. He offered enough to keep his first-team shirt but the manager went for the "safety" of recalling a player like Enzio, not always deservedly. This definitely goes down a minus mark on Neal Ardley's card for me.
