    Our best ever keepers

Ok lads, blame Roma for this lol. He gave me the idea for this thread earlier tonight by mentioning Jack Walton in the England thread.

So come on then, I know we've all discussed this before of course, but once again who are our favourite Number 1's eh. The keepers who have donned the famous Tykes green jersey over the years ?.
(they're not green anymore of course, they're multi-coloured these days!!).

Never eard of him Jules lol.
Id say my earliest and first favourite keeper was Garry Pierce in 1980-81, who was always better than Martin New of course!.

Andy Rhodes could have gone onto so much better with us, but he became a back up eventually to Clive Baker in the mid 80s. And Ive said so many times on here how much I liked Clive, despite his small size, he was a memorable keeper.

And so onto 1990-91 and beyond.... who would replace little Clive ? lol.

Peter had a magnificent Pink crash hat, and I remember stood on the open end as a lad and either a cross or corner came over and he dived at a right angle to the line catching the ball in mid air. I was amazed at it. Ended up in Scarborough as a Policeman, sadly dying quite young. I think.

Din't Muller also save one in the last minute at home to the Preston nobbers ?.

I was glad when we dropped Phil Whitehead and brought in Lee Butler. And for a while Butts was really popular, but he lost it eventually. Same as Kevin Miller really, who became a liability.

I loved Gary Pierce I was amazed when he came in cos he would dive to save shots, Springett the only other keeper I'd seen in a reds shirt at that point would run from one side of the goal to the other to save getting the shirt dirty!!!

Gary was my favourite but I think the best would have to be Dave Watson, he was outstanding at times especially in the promotion season.
