Pecunia est quia ibi non est numerus.

Pecunia est quia ibi non est numerus.
This is the motto which should now be on BFC shirts, it is particularly relevant to our club. To save anyone having to translate this from Latin it simply says “Money is for counting not spending”.
It is rumoured that a planning application has been submitted to Burnley Council to build an extension to the dry powder store as it is becoming rather cramped in there at present.
Tomorrow I am expecting to here the same old familiar phrases.
    1) We are little ol’ Burnley.
    2) We are punching above our weight.
    3) There are fine margins in the transfer market.
    4) We can’t compete with the big boys.
When will the magnificent seven (our board of directors) realise that in football as in business you need to invest to get the maximum return. Pity we don’t have Yul Brynner instead of Mike Garlick, Yul knew how to lead from the front.
    So, what do we have.
    1) A board of directors with no ambition.
    2) A Chairman who only appears when the team is successful.
    3) A Chief Executive Office who very few people have heard of.
    4) A Director of Football who thinks replacing Sam Vokes with Peter Crouch was doing good business.
    5) A recruitment team who should be being made redundant since they are surplus to requirements.
    6) A one dimensional manager.
What do we need, just one thing a miracle.
While I am very disappointed, I am not surprised.
We are supposed to have made a bid of £12M for Wilson with Liverpool wanting £15M so the bid fell through. We did sign Stephens for £1M with addons meaning it could be £2.5M. Since we did not need to sign a central midfielder already having Brownhill, Cork and Westwood, why did we not pass on Stephens and offer Liverpool £14M for Wilson thereby filling a much needed position.

I am guessing Vintage, but the money for the average Stephens has come from Gibson, with the added money saved in wages from Hart, Hendrick and Lennon.

The offer (12-15 million) we made the bin dippers for Wilson was probably in anticipation of getting money for Tarks which didnt happen so the Wilson deal fell through.

I think Garlick is very shallow, in that he believes he's got Burnley to the Premier League when he's riding on Sean Dyche's success, his telling us nothing statement before the season started told absolutely nothing, told me anyway, a hell of a lot.

I'm not saying Dyche is totally innocent in all of this, his tactics, late substitutions, being more defensive minded more than wanting flair/creativity and seemingly with no plan B.

Plus the fact we always hear he wants "A Dyche type player" He's supposed to be a Manager, So Bloody Manage.

I have said enough about Mike Rigg before and after we got him, in short, a waste of space.

Its all amateurish, from beginning to end Vintage, its so shameful

It certainly is Alto. I've given up the ghost on this season already ,unless we get our captain Mee back to direct things on the field which has been missing so far with no direction from anybody.

Hey uncle Alfie mate lol, your Burnsley team are still in a much better position than a lot of other teams (including my own Burnsley team of course).
Does that offer you any consolation as a fan at all ?.

You are right Alf it is Ben Mee who holds our team together. I do not think Westwood is effective as the team captain, I would prefer to see Phil Bardsley in that role during Mee’s absence.

I'm mystified by the strategy of all of this lack of transfer effort. it's clear the money is being in this league?? So that being the case why are we trying to get relegated to a league where there are no supporters or match day revenue to keep clubs afloat and total uncertainty when supporters will return. The media has even done a spot on TV yesterday as to the plight of clubs outside the premier league. If we are in the championship next year, is the idea to get into the premier league or not and then make no effort again? I'm struggling to see the purpose of it all either in present or for the clubs future. Insane; what are they on the board thinking cause I'm missing it; there is no financial security in relegation and no easy path to promotion.

I would not call out for new players! I would want a new coaching staff,or better just kick them out,we would be the same team! A coaching staff? Do we need a coach when we play 'hoof ball' etc . Then against Newcastle around the 13 th minute, 5 Burnley players surrounded 2 'toon' players ( and because of the goal scored, add 6 Burnley players ).I saw mistakes done by Taylor, Stevens, Long and Pope! Schoolboys make mistakes like those.
    Just one mistake.
    Taylor:
When Taylor was 2 yds from ASM and in a defensive stance,he anticipated for ASM to move towards the corner flag, then Taylor turned facing the touch line with only his right shoulder facing ASM, by turning, his body weight moved to his upper body above the fulcrum, and so he was now phucked,to do anything,if ASM did not make that move, and in fact he was now a dead man walking! If ASM had chosen to move as Taylor anticipated it would have given Taylor that moment to tackle ASM,but he turned otherwise and left Taylor as dead! So then? Taylor should have faced ASM square on. If ASM did choose to move outside of Taylor, towards the corner flag, and to take a shot at the goal, the angle would have been tighter and Pope would have had a better chance to save it.

Now I am sad to say the full responsibility lies with Sean D. He is the manager/ leader of all the team, and responsible for all that happens.
Sean's philosophy seems to be ''if the ball is in the opponents half they won't score goals, and maybe we will!''
But it does not work like that!

In theory it is true that if the ball is in the opposition’s half of the pitch they are unlikely to score but you need to keep it there. However, the problem is when you bring all your players back to defend, and you then hoof the ball into the opponent’s half it comes straight back again.
Unfortunately, against Newcastle the two player we have been able to rely on in the last few games, namely Pope and Taylor had poor games.

Balan if it was me I’d have brought him down , took the yellow and re grouped . Never been the greatest player myself but played counties level centre mid and we’d share the cards about between us , just basic communication if I’d tackled there best player first and got cautioned it passed to my oppo at my right or left and on it goes, you can call that cynical but it’s football , mcneil let him go and Taylor let him go - good players deliver ball and punish you.

( reminds me of Sons goal for spurs last year I or one of my team mates would have brought him down - We are TOO NICE.

It’s funny when we watched saint maxi man at Burnley for Nice pre season , he was there only threat but me and my dad said we could do with him pace to burn carries the ball commits people,

The Toon must have watched him and the rest is history - what a bargain it was.

I reckon if I could see it and plenty more sat around us why couldn’t Rigg or Dyche ?

I'm not a psychiatrist, but I would love to know why we have waved the white flag and hit the "Self Destruct" button.

Unless we are all blind to the obvious and really are missing a game changing "Garlick Master Plan"we are already as good as relegated.

Norwich tried the same type of "Garlick Master Plan" and they are back in the Championship with our £15 million quidsworth of useless centre back.
