EFL clubs could 'disappear within five to six weeks'

"Some EFL clubs will "disappear within five to six weeks" unless they get financial support, says Nigel Travis, chairman of League Two Leyton Orient.

He also said 'Project Big Picture' - a plan by Liverpool and Manchester United to reform the English football pyramid - was a "great proposal"....

...."One thing I need to quash is, this isn't about the pandemic, this is about a crisis in football that goes back many years."

I am really not sure how removing a parachute payment is a great proposal. All that particular aspect does is drive a greater divide. New promoted clubs or smaller premiership clubs at risk of relegation will simply not risk spending big on players as the risk medium term is too great as such providing more control to the bigger clubs. The 25% of TV revenue aspect is therefore null and void. It's a proposal designed to cement the position of the top clubs further and that is all. Anyone who thinks that is not 100% the motivation is entirely wrong. In addition from a Notts perspective if we do not get out of this division this year by either failing to get promotion or the season being abandoned the reduction in clubs is likely to mean that for a period of time either no clubs get promoted from this division to the EFL or there is just one spot. The chairman is clearly taking a bung.

Hopefully Forest will be first out of the door.
