Careful Lol, Johnathan is on the prowl looking for inappropriate posts that belong on other sites, be careful what you're posting.

Does anyone remember what the sports shop in Mexborough was called, the one opposite the flyover into town? I could have sworn it was Fred Perry's but I'm probably confusing it with the sports brand.

Thanks Lincs but that name doesn't ring a bell. Just spent a while trawling through old photos of Mexborough on Google but no luck. Plenty of old pictures of the pubs I used to frequent though and of the high street in it's hayday, looked more like Beirut when I was last there in 2017 with all the metal shutters. There is one photo of Casper's Coffee Shop so now I know why he's not been on here so much recently

In the 70/80s the company I worked for had the contract for maintaining the heating in all Wm Stones pubs, one that springs to mind in Mexboro was "The Boy And Barrel" It used to be packed at lunch time and every one was a heating expert . Landlord was a good bloke, wouldn't take no for an answer when asked if you'd like a drink before leaving !!
