    Very sad news.

We’ve become a nasty little nonentity of a club.

Shame on you Lai and as for Dowling......so seriously ill equipped for the job he’s in place to do.

    The club is an embarrassment.

Good luck Slaven, I shall remember you with fondness.

Big Sam if true - horrible bloke! Was in a swimming pool a couple of years ago and turned around and he was in there!

Sad to see Bilic go in the sense the club hung him out to dry! Questioned a lot oh his selections and subs though and rightly so! Makes you also wonder why the players performed last night ( commitment and effort ) but it was clearly lacking in other matches.

Whoever is in charge - it's an absolute MUST to get 3 points against the Vile!

Just published by the TELEGRAPH - Looks like Allardyce is going to get the gig.

Slaven Bilic has been sacked by West Bromwich Albion this morning, with Sam Allardyce poised to make his return to management as the replacement.

As revealed by Telegraph Sport, Bilic has become the first Premier League casualty of the season after being given the news at West Brom's training ground today, following the 1-1 draw at Manchester City on Tuesday night.

Allardyce, 66, is now expected to be announced as the club's new manager in the next 48 hours, signing a contract which will initially run until the end of this season.

The former England manager has been out of management since his dismissal by Everton in May 2018 and is charged with the task of saving the club from dropping back into the Championship.

He has never been relegated as a manager and West Brom are hopeful he will repeat his achievements at Sunderland and Crystal Palace, where he successfully avoided the drop after taking both jobs mid-season.

Telegraph Sport understands Allardyce will automatically earn a 12-month extension to his current contract if he manages to keep Albion in the Premier League.

It is understood Allardyce will be tested for Covid-19 at his home later on Wednesday and, if he delivers a negative test, could be confirmed by West Brom before the weekend. The club face Aston Villa at home on Sunday evening.

Bilic's departure after 18 months in charge has polarised opinion, particularly after the spirited performance at the Etihad, but West Brom are looking at results over the past ten months.

The Croatian has only managed four wins in the league since February 25 and it is the performances and results this season against Fulham, Burnley, Crystal Palace and Newcastle which have forced the hierarchy into taking action.

Bilic clashed with the board over their summer transfer business, which was severely affected financially by the impact of Coronavirus.

He did guide the club to promotion from the Championship despite their late slump in results, yet the relationship with key figures has been fractious.

The sale of Ahmed Hegazi – who made only 14 starts in the league under Bilic – to Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad in October sparked another row behind the scenes, yet it is the failure to improve results which has ultimately led to his exit.

West Brom will release a statement imminently.

Its all about surviving and money, and bollox to entertainment. I would rather be watching entertaining games in the Championship and gunning for promotion that trying to win ugly and at any cost in the Premiership. I don't bear any malice towards Allardyce if he comes and if he is in charge agaist the Vile and we win it would help appease a lot of fans. But long term it does not inspire me to want to go back and watch games.

It always staggers me that the players seem to escape all blame in these things. The onus is always on the manager to motivate the players. Yes, several times his selections have been baffling but several performances have been gutless. The players must take the rap for that if they can't as professional athletes motivate themselves. Last nights performance suggested they owed him one judging by the shift they all put in.

Bad reflection on the club if they leaked this story before it happened but who's to know it wasn't Billic's camp? Maybe the blokes had enough of the owners having been hung out to dry which might explain some of his decisions and he's worked his sacking which won't be the first or the last time managers have done this. Just a thought.

He massively overachieved last season guiding such a ragtag outfit to automatic promotion. Yet gets 'rewarded' with his p45.

Even Klopp/Mourinho/Guardiola/Ancelotti would struggle to get much more out of that poor squad and it's not as if you lot are totally cut off. West Brom fans are clueless, what were you expecting, to be in the mix for a European place?

Given the overall excellent work he's done with you he'll probably get a job with a far bigger club in the near future.
