Match Off! - MillersMad Matchthread - The Millers v Derby County - Match OFF!

I'm a bit dissapointed at not going to be seeing one of the greatest footballers England have ever produced playing today. OK he may have been led down a dark alley when he was giving it a go with a grandma at a young age but jees could he score goals? Wayne Rooney, regardless what you think of him as a person is still a great player and his record speaks for itself.

Would I swap him for Warne? I don't think that I would. I think that he'd leave like Jackett did when he realised that Rotherham United is a special club. Special in a way that they're rebuilding slowly and surely and to be honest you need a manager like Warne to understand that and set the goals and long term strategy.
Wednesday night was a great example of the difference between our club and the likes of well established Championship clubs with ambition of going into the Premiership.

If we, Rotherham United had all of our players fit we would have won that game. We'd have been able to send players on and not weaken the side in fact we would have strengthened areas to match and counter what Blackburn did. To highlight this point is one example, they bring on Downing who lets be honest changed the game and we brough on Jones. We don't have a strong enough youth system than we can call from like other clubs which would mean that the 25 man squad can be extended. No. We have what we have! Blackburn highlighted the next step our special club needs to make and that is a stronger squad from 1 to 25. It's essential for our survival and I'm sure Rob Scott and the rest of the club is working on it!

I'm still enjoying watching our Rotherham United.

Today is a new challenge and one we can overcome. Enjoy the match boys and girls!

    Match off!

Rotherham United can confirm that this afternoon’s Sky Bet Championship fixture against Derby County has been postponed following a positive test of Covid-19 for a member of Paul Warne’s squad, with further players within the first team bubble showing symptoms of the virus at present.

Following conversations with the EFL and the subsequent medical advice provided by them and that of our own club doctors, the club have taken the decision to request a postponement to the fixture which has been approved by the EFL.

The game which was set to take place at AESSEAL New York Stadium on Saturday 19th December 2020 will now be rearranged.

The EFL have sanctioned the postponement of the fixture as a matter of player safety, which of course remains paramount to both ourselves and Derby County.

The club will be making no further comment at this time.

It will, 10 days isolating, then we have Cardiff straight after which we probably won’t be fit enough

    EFL Statement

This afternoon’s Sky Bet League Championship fixture between Rotherham United and Derby County has been postponed due to an outbreak of COVID-19, with players and first-team staff required to self-isolate in line with EFL and Government guidance.

The Club has therefore informed the EFL it is unable to fulfil this afternoon’s fixture and the circumstances surrounding the postponement will now be the subject of an investigation in accordance with EFL Regulations.

A revised date for the rearranged fixture will be confirmed in due course.
