I Think 2021 Might Be Curtains......

    ......for me personally.

I’m feeling a sense of impending doom and as I fast approach 60 next October certain health issues seem to be appearing.

I hope I’m wrong but I’ve never felt this level of dread before, it’s not even depression which I’ve had slight bouts of in the past........it’s weird, I can’t explain it other than to say that it feels like everything is closing in on me.

I’ve a sudden urge to get all my affairs in order and to organise to a level I’ve never known before.

I’m not especially scared either, I feel almost a resigned acceptance.

Maybe it’s age related and these health worries but I can’t shake the feeling.

If I suddenly stop posting get Des to check my FB page and then repost this just to prove I was right for once 😏

    I TOLD YOU SO!!!!!

Sounds perfectly normal to me, Mick. Businessman approaching 60, wanting to get his affairs put in order. Your business brain wants things sorted. It's probably how you've always lived your life.

As for the health issues, the clue is in your age. We can no longer run around like a youngster, instead, we find another way around problems. Joints ache and organs start to play up, but we find a way. It’s how we pay for the sins of our youth.

I read that you recognise your previous bouts of depression, this may well be another bout. Depression doesn’t send you a text, to announce itself, and it comes in many guises.

You’ve been fighting to save your business, throughout a pandemic, with probably little or no assistance. People are dropping like flies across the nation. The media outlets are so depressing, they are nurturing negativity. Yet, here you are, with your ‘gallows humour’, surviving, where many may fail.

Take your head away from it all, and take comfort from your family and friends. Take pride in your fighting spirit, and most importantly, pamper your mental fitness.

You could start by following a decent football club

    Super post Exiled.

I don’t worry about getting old tbh. Did not worry about being 40, albeit it was not such a great time in my life. 50 hey how, what ever and 60 passed a couple of years ago. Hopefully will see 70 and beyond but if not there is nothing I can do about it.

So Mick, the best I can say is do what you need to do and enjoy every day as best as you can. And remember, there is always someone worse off than yourself health wise so be grateful you still have what you have and don’t have to deal with some illness or disability many half our age and younger have to deal with. Seek professional support if you need it. No shame in that. Wishing you all the best.

Exilled words are so true and make sense.
You are not alone with these feelings; indeed I can relate to many of them myself.
Even as a positive person by nature I find myself being pulled down by those around me sometimes .
But my antidote is to go for a good long walk and remember that we can all be slaves to our emotions at times. Watching footie does not help either.

I sometimes get that sense of an ending. It's often fleeting but it generally follows when I find myself meditating on ageing and regret. Gawd, so many regrets.

Phild, that's interesting about regrets. So far, I don't have many. Am i lucky or is it my mindset that we can't go back so regrets are pointless. ? Would you feel comfortable to share some of your regrets?

I think when you get to 60 y/o it’s only natural to start thinking about “what might have been”. I do this at some point every day - then I give myself a a verbal “kick up the a***” and tell myself how lucky I really am. For some reason Phil’s Dead-o-Meter post a a few months ago truly resonated with me. According to that “death predictor” I would live to 86 y/o which I would take tbh. And assuming good health, a strong family and financial stability .... then there are so many things I still want to do or see ... sadly seeing the Albion win anything will unlikely to be one of them....

There are so many people worse off ..... as brought home to me when I saw this poor girl selling the Big Issue in freezing cold on Winchcombe high street yesterday ..... whilst cheerily wishing every passerby a Happy New Year .... sometimes you need to be thankful for the hand life dealt you ....

Meant to make you laugh and not to offend so truly hope you have kept your sense of humour when you are in such a dark place that I have no experience of but if you feel its curtains for you would it not be best to

    pull yourself together.

Or should this be under your 'Bad Taste Jokes' thread?

Take care of yourself Board would be a duller place without you.
