    Marr v Johnson

Sorry to interrupt the football flow - I know we all got warned on bringing up politics in the past - but I just watched the Marr v Johnson bout on TV. Whilst we need to put our politicians under the microscope and Johnson is not everyone’s cup of tea. BUT I have to say Marr’s hectoring interview technique whereby he jumps down the throat of people after they have uttered three words is irritating to the extreme. Johnson is the PM after all .... so at least give him a chance to speak ..... would rather listen to what he has to say (whether you agree or not) .... than the interventions of some wannabe rockstar TV presenter ... can we please bring back sensible interviewing to the BBC .... rather than entertainment and bear baiting ....

I liked the last words of the interview where Johnson berated him, and the media in general, for a lack of positivity about the future, and Marr finished on 'Well it is a Scot interviewing an Englishman'. Priceless

Is this why why we have such low quality politicians these days? Is the power that goes with the job worth the media coverage, and in most cases, the comparative low pay?

As if Marr was bad enough, we also heard the usual from the most professional BBC s--t stirrer of the lot called Vicky Young.

Not only a Scot but also someone who used to sell The Morning Star newspaper as a sideline.

I don’t require my TV interviewer to have a strong political persuasion or an agenda thank you very much.

Back in the day I didn’t have a clue who Brian Walden or Robin Day supported, I found them to be equally “surgical” with whoever they had in the hot seat.

A top class interviewer casts their bread liberally on the surface and sits back and lets their subject hang themselves.

Richie Benaud always said that his biggest and most important tool was silence.......the art of knowing when to shut the f u c k up!

Michael Parkinson always felt the same.

Too many of today’s lot are utterly desperate to push their own agenda.

I don’t normally have a newspaper but the wife got a free one with her shopping yesterday and the piece by Andrew Neil was absolutely pin sharp and to the point, nail hit on head on every topic.

At 70 odd still a man at the peak of his powers.......very probably one of the greatest minds to ( sadly ) not become Prime Minister.
