    Seasonal Flu.

During the second week of January 2021 admissions to U.K. hospitals for Flu were....

    Nil!

Out of 4 million U.K. GP appointments this winter 49 people had flu like symptoms.

Suspected flu is accounting for 0.001% of U.K. illnesses this winter.

Across the world seasonal flu cases have dropped by 95%.

I’d like to see the comparison between a bad flu winter deaths and Covid deaths?

I’m not trying to offer a counter argument to how we are doing things but more interested in the statistics?

There’s no doubt Covid is horrible but I’d wager that 70% of those dying would’ve been got by a dose of winter flu.

It is very interesting but quite predictable.
All of the measures taken to avoid social contact and spreading germs have seen a beneficial effect with the other respiratory viruses and indeed bacterial infections.
Is COVID more contagious than the others? They are not sure but say it probably is

But our innate immunity has been battling many of the influenza variants before Adam was a boy. It’s Day Zero for COVID

It's a strange one isn't it? It could be that the measures taken against Covid has stopped people from getting it, in which case the measures are ineffective against Covid.
I have never had Flu, but from people who have had it you know when you have it, it's debilitating. Covid on the other hand, people can have it and don't know they have it, the majority in fact. But a tiny proportion get seriously ill and die, almost always old people or those with underlying illnesses.
We have only had the figures of how many old people die during a winter since Covid, never before.
It would be interesting to see how many people die each year during winter post Covid.
Also how many fit and well people die unexpectedly every year post Covid.
I read somewhere that last Spring despite Covid the death rates were the lowest in five years.
Covid has put a lot of pressure on the NHS yes, but so does a Flu epidemic. People have a heavy cold and think they have Flu, they are wrong, with Flu you won't get out of bed, but nobody ever panicked before and stripped the supermarkets of bread and bog rolls.
    Well played the media.

I see poor Sir Tom is in hospital with Covid after being in for Pneumonia, would have thought he’d have had his jab in December being over 100? Get well Sir 🤞

He did have his jab I believe Dave, but unfortunately it doesn't stop you from getting Covid or spreading it.
If he dies they will call him another Covid victim, being 100 has nothing to do with it.

Don’t think he could have the jab because he had pneumonia

I wonder how he got it? He doesn't strike you as the type to go to mass raves or drink from cans with his mates in a park.
