    Six Nations

Kicks off today with Italy v France then the big one for us after last year, Scotland in the Calcutta Cup 16:45 on ITV 1. I don't watch club RU but usually enjoy this and the World Cup. Could be a toughie today with a weakened England squad.

That's why I don't bother at club level. Repeated scrums can get irritating and penalties seem to be given for anything now. RL is pacier but rugby doesn't grab me like footie but I do enjoy the internationals, I blame Johnny Wilkinson and the famous 2003 victory.

Don't let Alfie wind you up Chris, he loves 6 tackles and a kick, anything with any greater depth goes right over his head. I'm not sure it's a weakened England squad, it might not be the starting XV Eddie wanted to put out, but I don't see Wilson, Genge, Stuart, Lawrence or Hill as weak links. We have enormous strength in depth, they'll fit in seamlessly imo. Could be a closer game than the betting indicates, Scotland are getting their act together, they're not a pushover any more, and the fact that we're so superior to them seems to fire them up to play above themselves against their friends from south of the border. In the end though, I expect it will be just another day at the office for our lads.

I have to reciprocate what Alfie says, apart from his obsession with that strange game they play either side of the M62, he's sound as a pound is Alfie, a good lad.

Dear me, that was shocking, absolutely bloody awful. The only credit England might get is for somehow keeping the score to just 11-6, if it had been 41-6 they couldn't have complained, if Jones gets sacked after that he can have no complaints, it really was that bad.

Cheers Alfie, I did say it would be a close game, and when I saw Scotland were 5/1 I had to have a bet at that price, I like a bit of value. So I made some money on the game, but I was shocked at how poor England were, I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

It was like watching old England pre Jones where we used to constantly give penalties away and never find a rhythm. I know Italy are easy to beat but France looked the part, may be their tournament.
