Maybe I’m being a bit naive, but with no fans involved, couldn’t we have switched the game to ML, or even a neutral venue?
Surely every measure possible should be taken to try and make sure games are played.

No, you're not being naïve, it's a decent idea and one that has been put forward before on this board. Unfortunately, the peeps who run the NL tend to move like molasses and with a lot less sense of direction as well.
