Missed the footie but was outvoted for Eurovision. NUL POINTS for us. Wonder if we entered as Scotland things might be different?
I doubt it.
One year Kenneth McKeller represented the U.K. at the Eurovision Song Contest and he also had no success.
I have watched the Eurovision contest for many years despite my wife hating it.
She even tried to persuade me to go out for an evening meal tonight but we could not find any place on Islay that was anything as good as the Ship Inn restaurant in Broughty Ferry or Armstrong’s restaurant at Roundyhill near Kirriemuir.
So, are you trying to tell us that Scotland couldn't possibly have any success in The Eurovision Campness Contest because a Scottish stereotype didn't win it for the 'UK' in 1966 and because there are no decent restaurants on Islay? Strange way to think.
However I thought the Italian strategy of recruiting Spinal Tap and featuring Suzi Quatro on bass was a masterstroke - maybe the whole retro thing is what the 'UK' should look at for next year? Surely a Cliff Richard and Mary Hopkin duet will blow those nasty Europeans away?
What type of Scottish entry would you have. Someone decked out in tartan singing a Bay City Rollers type of song. The winning song was not my type of music. The question is. Will we remember the 2021 Eurovision song in fifty years time like we still do with Cliff Richard’s song Congratulations which should have won the Eurovision Song Contest but was cheated out of it by General Franco of Spain.
There is currently not a decent restaurant on Islay that serves good meals and is value for money.
They are either have an all day menu which is expensive or serve small portions with fancy patterns on the plate at an expensive price.
That is one of the problems of living in a place with a lot of tourists.
The restaurant menus never change for the whole year.
That is fine if someone is on holiday on Islay for a week’s holiday but no use for local residents.
We also enjoy having a meal at the Red House Hotel in Coupar Angus.
