Nice little job after a 5-0 away win, doing these!

Slocombe - 7 - Didn’t have a lot to do, but distribution was great and made one decent save late in the first half.

Brindley - 8 - I think he’s brilliant in that position. Solid defensively but his willingness to bring the ball forward, overlap and take people on as a centre back is really useful.

Rawlinson - 7 - Quiet afternoon defensively, hopefully his knock isn’t a bad one.

Cameron - 7 - Think he’s going to be a good signing. Was really dominant from the few set pieces they had and has quality on the ball as well.

Kelly-Evans - 9 - Second half was as good as I’ve seen him going forward. Think IB might have been working with him on that - his final ball was good, and he was willing to take his man on.

Taylor - 9 - I love this guy. Just so direct, hugs the touchline and first thought is always forward. Constantly making runs in behind. He’s different to Miller and doesn’t have the tricks/dribbling, but he’s quicker, more direct and his final ball looks better. In a team which has Ruben/Cal for the technical stuff I think he might prove to be more effective.

Palmer - 8 - Quiet first half, but ran the show after the break. Some fantastic through balls. Wasn’t really tested defensively.

Palmer - 8 - Really good, you can tell he’s played at a higher level. Found space very easily.

Roberts - 7 - Not quite back to himself yet, but great to see him get a goal and was clearly loving it. Attracts three or four defenders whenever he gets the ball which creates space elsewhere.

Rodrigues - 8 - Don’t think it was his best all-round performance, but as I’ve said loads this pre-season - he’s a goalscorer. We should enjoy him while he’s here, a player who can both pop up in the box to score headers and tap-ins and drop deep to create for others is very rare at this level.

Wootton - 8 - Classic Wootton, won all of his battles and created space for the midfield. Good to get off the mark.

Subs:

O’Brien - 9 - Came on against a demoralised team, but caused havoc with his movement and runs in behind. If he can’t get in the team with the way he’s playing, we’re in a very good place.

Chicksen - 7 - Passed the ball around nicely.

Nemane - 7 - Didn’t have long, but had a couple of decent runs in that time. Will be a threat.

DKE- if he produces attacking displays consistently and adds assists to his game, he's going to be some player as he does the other side of the game so well. I've been quite critical of his distribution in the past but good to see it's improving

Taylor- again you make a good point about how physical he is, much more than Miller. With smaller players like Palmer, Francis and Robert, he could add some much need muscle to the team so we can mix it.

RR- yeah, he won't be with Notts long and imo is more important to us than Roberts. Goal scoring attacking midfielder that can dribble and take free kicks. Notts shouldn't be asking any less than £250k for him!

Slocombe 7.5 - not much to do but one very smart save. Easy quick distribution to the spare CB all game.
Brindley 8 - I'm a fan and suits this formation and position. Good bringing the ball out with mobility
Rawlinson 7.5 - solid
Cameron 8- bar needlessly getting too tight and rightly being booked was very impressive especially in the air all afternoon
DKE 8 - as good as I've seen him for a while. Like many more impressive in second half where his decision making and delivery improved as confidence grew.
Taylor 9 - like DKE but more direct, more impressive. Although not difficult when given freedom of that side of the park all game.
Francis 8 - solid
Palmer 8.5 - solid and nice range of passing
Rodrigues 8.5 - was in and out the game a bit but some lovely touches of sheer class and two fine finishes
Roberts 7.5 - always wanted to be on the ball, battled well was involved but was wasteful first half with some good chances created. Deserved goal after a lengthy passing move ended with a deserved penalty. Would have been quite the team goal if he had been allowed to finish.
Wooton 8 - did the donkey work, occupied the defenders, created the space for the flair players. We didn't use him enough as a focal point first half but was more involved in the second and it showed.

Burchnall 9.5 - went attacking from the off, the formation worked and tactic worked throughout, we scored from a set piece and a clean sheet. Very easy afternoon from the Head Coach against his opposition manager.

I’d want more than 250k for Ruben. If I was Notts I’d be looking to offer him a new contract to allow us to command a higher fee.
As a result of the comments regarding fees I googled record transfers from the National League and League 2. I can’t say how accurate the results were but I was astonished to see Brisley the 2nd most expensive transfer out of the NL. Then in League 2 Stead was 3rd, one if 3 million pound transfers. Then, and please dont laugh, Richard Duffy. Remember him? The centre back who didn’t like to head a ball.

I thought he wanted to head the ball, but couldn't get more than 1.5 inches off the ground. And I agree with you, RR has to be worth more than £250K. I'd like it to remain moot, while we build a team that he's still part of even at the top of L2 and possibly beyond, but maybe I'm jumping a bit far ahead.
