Episode #7 - "Calling the Shots!"

In this episode we are joined by Aldershot Town Academy Director Waleed Khan where we review last Saturdays game, Waleed declares his love for Jim O'Brien, his pride in seeing his academy boys take the pitch at Notts and the challenges faced by clubs trying to run academies outside of the EFL and Prem.

Another opposition recommendation about JOB, not the only one this season as others have said every time he plays against them for us he's great. Must just be some of our fans unable to appreciate how lucky we are to have him.

I think the appreciation of Jim has got better, certainly with his start to the season. There were quite a few negative comments when he was offered the new deal. Which I never understood. People need to have faith in Burchnall’s ability to get best out of players, individually and collectively. Jims definitely got ability, particularly at our current level, it was a case of playing a system/style that brought the best out of him.

To add. When supporters get frustrated about our passing around at the back, it’s this play that invites teams to press which then creates space for the likes of Jim to run into.

    Sorry, slightly off topic.

It's bang on topic mate. I've been quite vocal in my support of Jim in the past so to have Waleed talk about him in the pod was unexpected and very nice.

That happened a few times in the first half against Aldershot, where JOB made some great runs into space inviting the pass. Every time though the ball went backwards or sideways, to his obvious frustration.

He certainly seems to split opinion on here.

I've always liked him because of his 100% attitude, and his willingness to try something in an attacking sense rather than play the safe backwards ball. It doesn't always come off, if it did he wouldn't be playing at this level!
