Winning after being three goals behind.

    Have we ever done this?
Not since the start of 1989/90 at least, where I've got all of the goal times and I can't remember us doing it since I've been following Notts.

We last drew from being 3 behind at home to Cambridge on Saturday 23rd December 2017
Last time we came from 2-0 down to win was against Bristol Rovers in the FA Cup the month before (Friday 3rd November 2017).,

I don't know if we've ever lost from being 3 goals up either, but we did draw 3-3 after being 3-0 up at Bolton in 1988/89.

Only a draw UTM, but what a cracking match that was.

The day Forte tried to celebrate his overhead equaliser with a crippled back!

Seem to recall us drawing 3-3 with Chesterfield in the FA Cup after we were 3-0 up with not a huge amount of time left. We then won 1-0 in the replay.

I can remember some classic 3-2 wins from 2-0 down (Watford at home in the old first division; Crystal Palace in the early 90s when they went up as champions), but that's as good as I remember.

Weren't we 2-0 up before we crashed out of the FA Cup at Southport 4-2, and I seem to recall a similar outcome at Bournemouth during the season when they were playing their home games at Dorchester.

That Chesterfield 3-3 was a Sunday morning kick-off and was a bit of a shock after we'd been cruising.

    Smith 90+4

There might have been one or two between 1960-1989 that I haven't got all of the goal times for. If not then the one before that would be......

    Saturday 3rd January 1959
    Notts County 4
    Horobin 47
    Loxley 57
    Horobin 75
    Brown 80

    Halifax Town 4
    Blackburn 16
    Kilford (og) 35
    Smith 42
    Smith 61

So comebacks from 3 goals down are incredibly rare.

Winning from 2-0 behind is more common. 4 in the 2010s, 3 in the 2000s and 2 in the 1990s, so based on that you'd expect to see a major Notts come back once every 3 years or so.

Totally off the top of my head, but didn’t we turn around a 3-0 deficit to win 4-3 at Bristol Rovers in the late 70s, early 80s?

I was once told ‘I had a Wheelbarrow…’ was born out of mimicking an opposition chant and a 3 goal comeback (possibly against Bournemouth?). Any truth in that?

I'm quite certain now that if we have ever turned around a 3 goal deficit to win, it would have been pre-war. There were a few candidates in the 50s/early 60s but I've been able to establish today that the scores didn't pan out that way. So it remains a possibility that Notts have never done it.
