    Been rummaging...what a find!

I've decided to finally dig out a piece of equipment I purchased while being a Manager at Dixons in Sheffield. Oh the bygone days, anyway, I digress. It is a Panasonic VHS/DVD player, the kind you can transfer your VHS tapes on to a DVD.

Believe it or not, it's well over 20 years old and I kid you not, I've yet use it to attempt a conversion.
Looking through one of my cupboards, I come across a tape. Looking at the label it says:

23.1 2001. Walsall v Rotherham United. It was played at the Bescott ground on a Tuesday night. Back in the day SKY Sports use to invite local fans to commentate on their team. Our commentator on the night? Ivor Hillman (Gino).
He actually comes across quite informative and is having good banter with the Walsall commentator, Steve Roy.

    Our line up:
    Keeper - Ian Gray
Defenders - Marvin Bryan, David Artell, Guy Barnston Paul Hurst (who looks about 12 year old )
Midfield- Brian Wilsterman, Darren Garner, Kevin Watson
Forwards - Mark Robins, Alan Lee, Paul Warne.

Subs - Richie Barker (for Lee)
    Chris Sedgwick (for Robins)

Score 1-1 . Walsall goal scorer Darren Byfield, Rotherham scorer Chris Sedgwick. Manager Ronnie Moore.

This was a real gusto of a game with hoofball the order of the day from both sides! Have to say there are some rock hard crunching tackles coming in from our lot with Bryan, Branston and Wilsterman taking no prisoners at all .
Not surprising at all, the only booking of the game is given to Pyscho himself.

Credit to the Ref he lets some real tasty challenges go ahead without stopping the game, unlike todays fairies who go down at a touch. I would have loved to see the modern day footballers, especially Prem players having played in this match, they wouldn't have lasted 2 minutes.

Got to get this onto DVD as VHS tapes don't last forever.

This ain't bad though, on VHS and 20 years 10 months old. The picture quality is slightly 'glassy' but easily watchable.

Ah but Grist, have you got a fully working Sanyo Betamax recorder like I have? Still have some unopened cassettes for it and a couple of films. Far better quality on the day but alas VHS domineered the market until the dvd arrived.

Thinking of selling it but don't want to mess about with Ebay etc, do you know of anyone to approach re this?

How about the old Atari table tennis unit that runs off x 4 D Cell Batteries that plugs into your TV. You could choose a small or large bat size depending how good you were. The extendable cord made it super cool back in the day as you could play it off your sofa...yes we have one of those also.
