    Trippier

Quite a few places reporting that the deal is pretty much done.

    If true and big if.

Then I think this is a great deal, it's not some massive name but it will give us a lot more strength on the flanks, plus he already has prem experience.

Quality signing if we can get him and Botman in things will look a lot better at the back, Great to see leeds getting thrashed at city and norwich losing

Trippier is half decent and with Simeone shouting down his earhole for the last couple of years, he will be our most drilled defender by far.

    Would be a great signing.

Mind, he won't be able to believe the clip of the defence he's playing in.

He would be our best player, at least on paper.

If true, it'll probably be his last big pay day in the PL.

Probably right but if he comes and pulls this defence into something like a well-working unit he will be hailed as a hero.

They haven't been doing it for two seasons so it's pull finger out time.

I wonder also if he's possibly captaincy material.

    Aye, good points, Pat.

If he helps keep us up then he'd be worth every penny.

The other thing is that if he does come, he might be the catalyst for others to decide take a chance. Decent players such as Trippier will know that if they back themselves and it works out (because we avoid relegation) then they know they'll be part of something big.

this window can be seen as a free hit from the new owners in terms of outlay, If they spend 170m to strengthen and we stay up, they technically have not spent a penny as this will be covered for just staying in the PL by the yearly PL TV cash.

Get the players they need asap before Jan 1st and we are in with a chance

Isn't it amazing that those thoughts never entered the mind of Fatso. Or if they did they were rapidly expelled.
