Cornwall advice

Currently in Cornwall, have been to Penzance, Mousehole, Minack Theatre, Lands End, St Ives, Falmouth

Absolutely gutted I have never been here before

Mick had some places over by NewQuay which we may do tomorrow, but beaches aren’t great at this time of year

Anyone got any advice on places to go ?

Have to say the seafood we’ve had around Falmouth has been just unbelievable

For me you cannot beat some of the circular walks around The Lizard. Our favourite at this time of the year, providing it is dry, is the Kynance Cove circular walk along the cliffs back to the Lizard and then back to the car park at Kynance. Not so great if it is raining though as no protection but on a clear day fantastic.

It is about 4.5 miles moderate walking with just unbeatable views.

There are plenty of others though if that doesn’t suit all around The Lizard and most are circular walks.

Watergate Bay (like I mentioned) is a must BS.

Even if the weather isn’t great you can sit in the downstairs beach restaurant (under Jamie Oliver’s Fif**** restaurant and watch the waves crashing in.

There’s a car park on your left as you come down the steep hill into the bay, if that’s full you just turn right and 200 yards up there’s a car park on the field.

If the weathers good take the coast road from Newquay to padstow stunning scenery passing numerous beaches

Agree Kynance Cove is absolutely stunning - admittedly only seen on a hit summer’s day

Harlyn Bay beach is awesome too — great for letting the dogs off the lead .... mind as above only been there in the summer ...

The Merrymoor pub in Mawgan Porth which is between Watergate Bay and Padstow is nice for food.

For me Padstow is overrated and it’s also very, very hilly between the main town car park and the town itself BS, I don’t know if this is something your daughter might struggle with.

The other place I would recommend for a couple of hours is Charlestown.

The walks out of the town either direction are steep so could be a concern but if not well worth the effort, especially towards Porthpean beach. However, the village is a good place to look around for a couple of hours and a few nice places to eat/drink as well.

Used to always go on holiday as a kid to Cornwall and loved it there. We all crammed into our little blue mini and the drive seemed to take forever down from the Midlands and can still remember the thrill of first spotting the sea from the car. We used to stay in a small family run guest house at Delabole (famous for its slate quarry) and used to love the local unspoilt beaches. Other favourite places were Devils Hill, the witches museum at Boscastle, the sunken church of St.Enodocs near Wadebridge, Tintagel and Polperro. Sadly haven't been to Cornwall now for years but have many fond memories and loved the rugged coastline and the windy roads with tall hedgerows. TBH I think there are many beautiful places in the UK-just that the weather isnt always too good ! Also like the North Norfolk coast and recently had a break in the Wold of Kent near Chiddingstone which has beautiful countryside, lots of historical Tudor era buildings and some great pub food.
