    Will Grigg

A chap called Toby Wilding of Football League World posted the following as an exclusive.

I don’t know how reliable this guy is so whether there is any truth in it remains to be seen.

Sunderland are ready to recall striker Will Grigg from his loan spell at Rotherham United, Football League World can exclusively reveal.

Having joined the Black Cats from Wigan Athletic back in January 2019 for a reported League One record £4million, Grigg has struggled to settle at the Stadium of Light.

The striker has so far scored just eight goals in 61 appearances in all competitions for the North East club.

That saw Grigg spend the second half of last season on loan with his former club MK Dons, where he scored eight times in 20 games.

After returning to Sunderland in the summer, Grigg made a single League Cup appearance from the bench at the start of the current campaign, in a 2-1 win at Port Vale, before being loaned back out to Rotherham.

During his time with the Millers so far, Grigg has scored a total of six goals in 21 games helping Paul Warne’s to top spot in the current League One table.

Now though, Grigg looks set to return to the Stadium of Light imminently. Sources have indicated to Football League World that Sunderland are ready to take up their option to recall the 30-year-old this month.

Sunderland are of course, level on points with Rotherham at the top of the League One table, only trailing the Millers on goal difference, following their dramatic 3-3 draw at Wycombe on Saturday.

The Black Cats were recently dealt a blow to their attacking options, with the news that on-loan Everton forward Nathan Broadhead is facing several months on the sidelines with a hamstring injury, potentially increasing the need for Grigg’s return to the Stadium of Light.

IMO, if this is the case it’s because they know we’d be left with two strikes if Ladapo goes as well. The risk is always there with loan players.

There are suggestions on the net this morning that Sunderland are after Ladapo as well

So they’re taking their ball back and want one of ours too. Sounds desperate for them if true.

Put a decent price on Ladapo that’ll stop em in their tracks but, he does want to leave so what’s best thing to do???

Warne has a bit of a conundrum to navigate, he’s said he is not going to get a striker in just in case as it will not balance the books, but if we dordal along we may be in the position were we miss out on our key targets, on the other hand if we go for it and land a new striker we could loan JJ out as Warne did say in an interview that JJ was the most wanted man in the squad at the minute.

    It's Tony Stewart not Warne.

You think now knowing ladepo doesn't wanna be here Warne doesn't want to go out and get another striker ??

Only thing stopping him is Tony Stewart and his wallet

Tony Stewart has made it clear that money is available this window, it is not warnes job to balance the books or worry about such matters, the board will allocate the money for transfers and wages, if they tell him he can strengthen his squad and he chooses not to then that is foolish as all teams around us will and you should always strengthen when in a good place. The loss of Grigg, potentially Sadlier and freddie unhappy is very likely to damage our chances of a top two position, what a missed opportunity that would be.
If Grigg goes back we should recall Tilt even if we have no intention to play him this is not the time to be nice.
We are doing so well we look solid and the players we have are giving everything, lets add to that group and complete the season in the top two, Warne and team deserve a lot of credit for what we have achieved lets build on it

I agree with all off that.

Surely any deal with ladepo to sunderland would include grigg staying at rufc to end off the season. (,makes sense),

Hard part will be trying to get players who can improve us.

Surely got to be looking at championship players or the stars off league 1 or 2 (which would be very difficult to get )

Unless scotty and the team unearth even more hidden gems
