    Fans Forum

I think unless you were actually there last night you would not have made much sense of what was being said due to the poor quality of the sound on You Tube. From what I could hear before I gave up is we can’t compete with clubs who offer £50k for a player which just about tells you where we are. Was there anybody there last night who can report anything remotely positive from the Forum ?

I second that. Was hoping to listen to it but gave up. If anybody can give their time up to post some bullet points it would be much appreciated.

Re the sound quality? That surely sums up the poor arrangements put in place when anyone can do a youtube video with excellent quality and sound...Didn't someone do a test run beforehand?

BTW I was reading that Stockport had over 7000 at their home games recently....I wonder if the Chairman can wonder over there to see what their wage bill is, what sort of academy they have and how many non playing staff they have and of course the players wages...

Maybe we should just aim to play in the National League that enable us to play more local derbys and get bigger gates...Beats playing Gillingham on a cold winter night...

Can't afford £50K for a player and yet we can find hundreds of thousands to pay non playing staff like an Assistant Manager and Manager and asst for the under 23 and ditto down the line etc..How much for a goal keeping coach that no club ever had in the old days...You were either good enough to play Pro Football or you weren't.

I thought a new board and chairman would see through all this stuff and demand a rethink and if we cannot afford that measly sum for a player then that sums up the wages we pay too and so its L2 and nobody at the club seems to care...

The whole point is to have decent players on the books not to be a job creation scheme for non players and last time I looked that was about 60-80..

Think the club want to take a long hard look at the reality of football today ...

Worth looking at other clubs and see what model they follow(ed) and where we could fit in ...

Let's start with Stockport - playing non-league but they are doing really well.

Then take Luton Town, who were non-league not too long ago, but have steadily progressed up to the championship.

Now compare with Derby, who are still not out of Administration, and could still be liquidated.

I agree with a lot of what MikeSB says, particularly with regards to the wage bill.

Have been following the Derby situation closely - and thought to myself "If Crewe went into Administration, how would they cut the overheads, what costs would they try to cut first"

I think that the Stockport player wage bill would frighten you Mike.

I become quite tired reading all the comparisons with the fortunes of other clubs such as Stockport. Maybe it is an idea to check the history and examine why there is a resurgence in their fortunes. They doubtless pay better wages than we do but probably we should be questioning how they do it. It most certainly won't be based on their gate receipts.

I think sadly with the current set up at the club we are a couple of years away from non league football, and I don’t believe the fans forum did anything to instil confidence in Crewe fans an utter shambles and extremely embarrassing for the club amateurish at best which sums up the whole approach from the board and management team.

I didn't attend on Thursday night so can't directly comment on proceedings. However, you seem to often describe the management of the club as embarrassing and shambolic. I don't see the club that way. Just looking for my tin hat. I thing the club is, on the whole, pretty well run. And I think because of that we will not be experiencing non league football any time soon. I had an on line conversation with someone who was there and the impression I got was that it was a fairly open discussion as far as it could be and admissions of mistakes and lessons learned were evident. I do think we have to be careful what we wish for
