    O/T - 36 Years Ago Tonight ( 11-03-1986 )

    I met my wife.

When I got home in the early hours I wrote a letter to her and told her the next day I’d written it but I wasn’t going to give it to her.

    She was puzzled.

Two years later I gave it to her on our wedding day, I had stated in the letter that I knew I’d marry her and spend the rest of my life with her.......I just knew she was the right one.

I’d been out with plenty beforehand and never wrote them a letter! 🤣

    She’s still got it somewhere.

    See.....I am romantic.

    Indeed it was Sharon 😎

In a complete contrast to that particular night my then 29 year old “catch” has just taken her now 65 year old body up to bed with a hot water bottle at 10.18pm! 🤣

Congrats to your daughter as well, my eldest from my wife’s first marriage is 36 and the other two are 33 and almost 30.

I’ve said to my wife that I hope the next 36 are as good, me at 95 and her at 101!🤣🤣

It was around March 1986 that me and Dubs were searching the skies for what was supposed to be the return of one of our brightest comets. Halley's Comet, but after 76 years since its last glorious appearance it simply turned out to be a damp squib.

Anyway nice one Mick, hope there are many more good years ahead for both of ya.

Met my wife in June '86, we were both in our late te ens then. In some ways it seems like yesterday but we have a twenty one year old son.

So in effect I went to bed aged 19, we have a son who's now older than I was when I went to bed yet I woke up aged fifty four lying next to a fifty two year old woman.

Must have been one wicked night out, it's just a pity I don't know where the time went. And to make matters worse my 17 year old girlfriend woke up in bed with a fifty four year old man 😊 .

Edit: Tell a lie. Just remembered we met in June '87 and NOT '86. My 17 year old girlfriend still woke up with a 54 year old man this morning though, just the same as my 19 year old self woke up beside a 52 year old woman. Nearly 35 years gone seemingly overnight..... in a blink.

In the blinking of an eye......I was living on the Isle Of Wight at the time...........all those years....so strange how some people still "think" like their ****agers....when they are over 50....and I know young people (****agers) who are unbelievable old in "thought".......
Well done the lot of ye for holding on to the good thing in your life.......

Next week it will be 40 years since I met my wife in a Streatham night club. I was totally p1ssed when I asked her for the last dance and arranged to meet her the next night in a Croydon pub. She had decided there was no way I would turn up and had to be persuaded to go by her flat mate. She was my posh totty convent educated from Tunbridge Wells. I was her bit of rough educated at Churchfields Comp from a West Brom council flat. I learned so much about the good things in life from her and I'd like to think I taught her a thing or 2.

If we hadn't have met that night we would never have met. Love her more now than the day I married her.
