Morning all,
Off to Cheltenham on Wednesday. My favourite day out of the year!
However, i am usually not in the queue to pay out.
Any tips from anyone who knows more than me (not difficult).
Thanks.

Pick an Irish trainer....or an Irish jockey...you can't go wrong....![]()
I shall be in Tatts, Sharon. Definitely one of my fav days of the year.
Have a great day out Sharon, very envious. Some great memories but not fit enough to cope with standing all day or the crowds.
What a fantastic day to go. So lucky to be able to see such superb horses such as Sir Gerhard, Shishkin and Tiger Roll. As ever winners will be difficult to find and several short price favourites.
The one short favourite I would take on is in the last race where I fancy American Mike but it will be so tight I am sure.
Have a wonderful day and hope the weather keeps fine.
Would tend to agree Yarm. If all else fails on the day, I think that American Mike will get you out in the last race Sharon. Either way, I hope you thoroughly enjoy your day. I am mighty envious.
Thank you all so much! COYB
One sport that’s never done it for me.
I love the way that literally everyone seems to have insider information yet the % of winners is so low! 🤣
I’m with you on that, Mick, never liked horse racing, just a cash cow for the bookies, no different to my mind than betting on snail racing; if there was no betting there would be no horse racing. I’ve never been to a horse race and I’ve no wish to go to one but to those that do, well, I hope you all have a good day out.
As for the advertising of online betting, I am of the opinion that it should be banned in the same way as cigarette advertising has been banned.
I find it interesting that people who don’t like horse racing think you cannot have a good day out without winning money from betting.
I go racing on a regular basis both here in the Uk and Ireland as well as Australia and New Zealand on regular trips to see family and friends. I was keen at one time to visit every racecourse in the UK but gave up at 25!
Despite being the one who goes most my friends and family are surprised to see that I don’t bet on every race, and can even go through the whole day without having a bet. I live the racing, especially top quality Grade races over the jumps, the atmosphere, the spectacle, everything.
If you have never experienced a day at the Punchestown each April then put it on your bucket list. If not a day at York races, Ascot, give it a go. Then tell me you don’t like racing. So much more enjoyment than any other sporting occasion imo.
