ELK sounds like you're having a great time but why don't you pick your own predictions. Send me a private message and I will amend them for you.

How the mighty have fallen! After one week I was top last season , this year bottom. I just hope it’s only Eric copying me and not the Millers

Pip_y not sure if you’re happy with ELK copying you as this is not allowed. This goes back a few seasons ago.

It was really tight towards the end of the season and a poster said all he had to do was copy the one closest to him, then he couldn’t be beaten so it was suggested this shouldn’t be allowed. I know it’s very early on in the competition but, this needs addressing now if you understand.

    Trust you do too ELK?

ELK it’s not like you scored 20 points,I think a 3yr ban should suffice.

Very difficult to prove if someone genuinely thinks that’s what the results will be. You sure ELK wasn’t joking having seen the results? Only way to stop it is for all submissions to be sent to one person so no one can see what’s been posted. I seem to recall that’s happened on the last week before.

I think ELK did it down to technical difficulties maybe exasperated by the effects of alcohol

His crime was admitting to copying. With the current format, and the fact I mostly post late, my predictions often end up being the same as at least one other poster but that's never through copying as I don't look at other poster's predictions before making mine. Once last season, CT posted an exact copy of mine within a couple of minutes of me posting but it was more 'great minds thinking alike' than anything nefarious.

It was the voices coming through the ether from the North, CAM...

Actually, I need to own up to a form of plagiarism which might be frowned upon. As an experiment a couple of seasons ago, I had a go at basing my choices on the combined wisdom of my fellow Madsters by statistically averaging the predictions of all the participants up to Thursday evening for each game. (You can tell I've been retired for a while...)

This did not materially improve my results so I stopped.

    It's a fair cop. I'll come quietly...

Nothing wrong with using good honest statistical methods CT although if it was as simple as that I'd be winning the Mega Millions every week When I used to run the PL based on 10 games and predicting the scores there was one poster, who on the basis that 2-1 is the most frequently occurring score predicted either 2-1 or 1-2 for all games the entire season. He finished about mid-table.

I do admit to once using statistics to win a Pukka Pie contest on here to guess the crowd. I waited to the last minute, listed all the entries in numerical order, calculated the 'gap' between each entry to find the biggest gap and then predicted half way between those two numbers to give me the biggest range of numbers where I'd be the winner. I was gobsmacked when I was within 3 or 4 of the actual crowd, more luck than anything else really. Pies couldn't make the trip over here so ended up going to a charity food kitchen.

I remember you winning that (and not being able to take possession of the pies)! Very interesting!
