Eh?
BBC Radio 4's 'Any Questions' has been running since 1948. It is on for 50 minutes at 8:00pm every Friday Night. It is a bit like BBC2's 'Question Time', coming from a different location on each occasion. It consists of a Chairperson, usually 3 politicians and someone from the arts, sport etc, answering questions from an audience. The questions are nearly all on political subjects but occasionally the last question may be something like "Which is your favourite Teletubby". It has been running since 1948.
Being 'live' it occasionally has problems such as a panellist is stuck in traffic but joins in on a mobile phone. Sometimes there are hecklers.
Once, in a village, the electricity failed and a farmer provided a generator running from a tractor engine.
It is within farting distance of south Cumbria.
I stopped listening to radio four 15 years ago because of its wokeness and racism. If any one expresses an opinion that isnt red gospel, then the chair and the audience gets nasty. It purposely excludes the vast majority of the electorate, those that vote blue, this programme is a gob in the face of democracy.
The radio four comedy programmes were good, now it just abuses the government, with that leso aussie woman. Being northern, im sure you wont mind radio four being red, but its only giving one side.
That is not good for the country. Imagine a blue radio station, you wont like that, and thats no good either. I dont listen to BBC radio anymore.
I know whats coming. Yawn. I suspect very few people do.
A significantly right of centre person is blissfully happy with the overwhelming majority of print and broadcast media being right of centre. Such a person will continuously be furious at any media that is impeccably fair, judging it to be radically left of centre.
The fair media will of course interrogate anyone from the governing party because the government has done things which can be the subject of enquiry and challenge. No opposition spokesperson will get such questions because the opposition has not done anything for 12 years.
The significantly right of centre person will not be content until all the printed and broadcast media are biased to the right, only 90% of which is the case currently.
Oh. I am aware of only one right leaning news channel, thats GB news. Then theres the BBC, Itv, Sky, channel 4 and 5, CNN, and god knows who else.
These people are not centre left. The papers are about 50 50, the Guardian being disturbed, some of its stuff is psychotic. So there you go, the left is in control. Paradoxically, being fed this nonsense makes people vote con.
Carry on chuck.
Al Jazeera, France today, TRT, Europe today, thats how to do news without the mewlings of the left oozing out.
Frank, it seems that you regard every media organisation that finds flaws in the current government as left of centre.
You making assertions about such media does not make it so. There is hardly any left of centre media, which is why you tend
to concentrate on The Guardian, which is several inches left of centre, matched by The Telegraph, right of centre. The Guardian is almost alone in being slightly left of centre. There is no media of any consequence to the left of it. But of course there is a multiplicity of media substantially to the right of it.
You are determined that there should be nothing that finds flaws in a Conservative government because such an entity is in your mind seriously to the left. This particular Conservative government can be legitimately criticised from all angles.
Yet you will continue to cite maybe a few slightly leftish neo-amateur media efforts that have an audience in the hundreds.
The UK substantial media always want a Conservative government but even some of them cannot stomach what we have experienced lately and the likely continuation of the farce.
The Mirror’s to the left, the Guardian leftish and the Independent, to me, in neutral ground. The rest, well, it’s just a question of how far right they go. The Daily Mail is way over with Atilla the Hun and the Express lives next door. The Times and the Sun are in bed together in Tory-rhetoric nirvana and the Telegraph is required reading for anyone who still wants to call them all “darkies” and harkens after the days when the sun beat down on the good old British Empire.
Frank - Stefan is bang on. You’ve taken on board too much Tory propaganda and it’s curdled your brain.
Big row been going on for years down here as BBC Radio “Manchester” has Bolton game on commentary literally every week…. Disgusting
