    Player ratings v Solihull

Slocombe 6.5 - not a busy afternoon but was fine. His kicking was a bit mixed, but way better than their keeper.
Brindley 6.5 - some good runs out of defence, did his job.
Baldwin 7 - won most of his challenges and looked comfortable on the ball.
Cameron 6.5 - not yet the dominant player of last season, but played his part.
Nemane 7 - posed a threat going forward, and did his defensive bit well.
Palmer 7 - always available and rarely wasted a pass.
Bajrami 8* - played a huge part in helping us win the midfield battle, not just the physical battle but also showing a fair bit of ability on the ball.
Chicksen 7 - the usual energy without looking a natural wing back. Great to see him on the scoresheet.
Rodrigues 7.5 - the odd misplaced pass, but a real creative influence. He can do things few players at this level can do.
Scott 6.5 - got involved, I'd have to see a replay to understand his thinking on the backheel!
Langstaff 7 - drew a blank, but still got in the right positions and caused them problems.

Austin 7 - added a bit of spark when he came on.
Mitchell 6.5 - should have played Ruben in, but offered a good outlet late in the game.
    JOB - n/a

Considering the opposition, that was an impressive performance. We created a lot while stopping them playing. If we can maintain this standard we have a real chance of achieving something this season.

Spot on ratings there Elite... wouldn't actually change any of them, Bajrami was an absolute beast and the best player on the park. To think Ruben put in that kind of performance after being terribly sick shows what kind of a professional he is, the one thing I will say is for Sam Slocombe..didn't have much to do but that hospital pass today was terrible and on another day could have cost us...but all in all a great day at the office.

Agree with the ratings from Elite. We seem to see most things the same!
Only one I’d change is Brindley to a 6, but to be fair, he did move forwards a bit more in 2nd half so can’t really argue with 6.5.

Pretty spot on for me. I think Bajrami is going to be the signing of the season… his performance for me was simply outstanding. MOTM by a country mile.

Great team performance, apart from Mitchell not laying the ball off to finish Sollyhull off in the closing stages.

He may well be if he carries on playing like that. The impressive thing is that most if not all of our summer recruits look like good signings:

Langstaff's goal return speaks for itself.

Scott has had a slower start due to illness but is already showing ability and a connection with Macauley (except for that unfortunate backheel today! )

Bajrami looks like the defensive midfielder we've needed, and a reliable centre-half too if required.

Austin has had limited opportunities so far but looks good when he plays, especially with that cross for Langstaff's second goal against Chesterfield.

Baldwin looks to be an upgrade on Alex Lacey and we probably haven't seen his best form yet.

The only one who hasn't had chance to impress yet is TAR, who needs to break into the first-team and prove his worth, but there's time.

It was as close to a perfect performance that I can remember in a long time… I can’t really fault anyone… we dominated from the kick off to the finish. I don’t know what the issue is with TAR, particularly as he was sold as our stellar pre season signing… but hey… in Williams we now trust!

Please please, keep this momentum going Notts… because if we play like that every week, we are going to be a force to be reckoned with.

TAR played in the York PSF and on the basis of that 90 minutes he should be nowhere near the current starting XI. Let's hope he gets fitter and better. Incidentally, Bajrami played CM in the first half and CB in the second - very decent in both positions. Finally, Ed Francis may have dropped down the rankings due to a mistake riddled performance at Gateshead.

Pretty much agree with all of the comments, but think the ratings are probably about one down across the board, we were really good. Rodrigues and Bajrami in particular, we’ll be doing well if we see many better individual performances this season than those two today.

You could be right, it's just that we didn't win as comfortably as we should have won, and Solihull weren't very good. That's probably because we didn't allow them to be very good, so I'll compromise and upgrade everyone by half a point!

Thanks for the ratings everyone. Is great to hear we played so well….we have been here before though! It’d be so typical of the last few years to put in a good performance and then lose or draw at somewhere like Aldershot. If we perform to a similar standard over the next few games I’ll maybe start to put that playoff defeat to bed!
