What really happened on deadline day?

Was it truly just an administrative issue, such as a flaw in the paperwork that couldn't be fixed on time? Or was there a hold up in getting approvals to pay wages or something of that sort?

I am surprised that we don't know more by now.

I can believe that. But there have to be a lot of people in the know, and I'm surprised that word hasn't gotten out.

It does happen quite a bit.
Especially with more clubs waiting till the last minute to move players out on loan.
It is no excuse just bad management of the process. Some time a player only becomes available on the last day of the window.
The whole process appears to be geared towards the biggest clubs first.
So it is another part of football that is all about money and not players interests. (I know players interests is money but you get what I mean)

It might happen quite a bit but clubs don't usually get rid of players in key positions without getting a replacement first. We let Carroll, Clarke and Robinson leave.

I understood that the fault lay in one of the releasing clubs delaying the completion of their paperwork. Indeed WBA appealed to no avail.
I guess the value to us of the new signing, outweighed that of the releasing club?
Will we ever know the truth ?
There was some speculation that Brighton were in some way involved ?

But my point is the other clubs didn't let anyone go without first replacing them, we did. Surely everything could be in place whether or not the deals came off. Why wait until the last day and then get rid of our players before others got rid of theirs? Amateurs at best.
We f ucked about on the last day to sign a free agent who isn't fit and hasn't played for two years.
Laurel and Hardy would run the club better.
