watching Jamaica v Ireland. How come all of the players interviewed sound like that they come from Lancashire or Yorkshire? (I can't tell the difference, maybe I mean they all sound northerners). No Jamaican or Irish accents at all.

Eiran Cashin anyone?
It's not just about where you were born. It's also about lineage. You qualify for the land of your birth. Parents or grandparents born elsewhere and you qualify for that country too.
So, you were born in NL. Mam is Irish, Dad is English. Maternal grandparents are Scottish and Welsh. Paternal grandparents French and German. That's 7 countries you can play sport for.
Then you have the extra "qualifications" of having lived somewhere for a number of years (5 in some sports). You and your parents emigrated to Spain when you were 5. from the age of 10, in some sports, you qualify for Spain as well. That's 8.
I guess because the vast majority of RL players come from the north of England...or Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.
The problem with all rugby World Cups imo is that there are only a very limited number of teams who can actually win it and the chances of an upset are negligible in rugby compared with football.
I think the RU World Cup has only ever been won by four teams (South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and England) and likewise with RL it has only been shared between Australia (usually), NZ and GB (or England in this tournament).
Having said that...England were magnificent against Samoa at the weekend and I think they have a real chance this time round, but matches between the likes of Jamaica and Ireland or Scotland and Italy, where there is virtually know RL tradition, are always going to look a little second rate and contrived.
Whatever the outcome we should all take notice of the great - and I don’t use the word lightly - Kevin Sinfield’s achievement when he hopefully completes a run from Murrayfield to Old Trafford at half time in the WC Final in aid of research into MND. Stuff of genuine heroes...both KS and the sufferers themselves.

That's either a very long half time or they have moved murrayfield a lot closer than I thought likely.
I thought the basic ball handling skills of Jamaica were good in the half I saw but they couldn't do anything with the possession. Unlike in world cup football where the no hopers often don't seem to have a grip on the basics
Lets hope Maddie Budd isn't waiting for him with her bucket as he enters the stadium
Maddie Budd - Captain Tom Moore - huge charity raising - statue - bucket of **** and piss - ah, maybe you were away in Spain when it happened
