Seen a few clips of Frank Martin and he doesn't hold back himself ! 😀 -but he does mostly make some good points.

My grandson plays football in his local league and his dad is one of his team's coaches. Now that he has passed his courses he also now makes a bit of pocket money on the side refereeing games himself. His mum goes to his games but is frequently a bit shocked by the behaviour of some of the other parents there and the abuse given. Like she says, it's a sport and it's competitive and people get involved but they are kids and the adults should set better examples.

Brilliant and so true. Years ago my son was at Middlesbrough academy and during games parents behind ropes were told - no sound whatsoever including shouting - cheering - coaching etc. The only thing you were permitted was to clap. Failure to abide by these rules you were told to leave and your son would be omitted from the next match!

Worked a treat and so much respect. Referees of junior matches should tell a parent once to reframe from swearing or shouting and a second time the match will be abandoned. Why should a coach give up his time for yobby parents or kids!

Always brought my kids up to respect others. Failure to say please and thank you resulted in getting nothing including dinner!

Brilliant idea, too stuff

I managed my sons under 12’s side in 2002-3.

The rule was brought in that season that parents had to shut the f u c k up on sidelines.

All well and good when playing kids from middle class areas but hopeless in the poorer demographic areas.

I packed it in due to my own committee who were a bunch of w a n k e r s.

Our team wasn’t very good and although they improved under me I felt that everyone should get a game if they turned up for training.

My own son wasn’t that good at that age so I made him a sub most weeks which really narked him but I thought it sent out a “no favouritism” message to all.

I got dragged in by the idiots on the committee who blasted me for giving the slightly poorer kids a 15-20 second half run out.

I told them to stick the job up their collective a r s e........when finishing 10th at best instead of maybe 12th to 15th out of 20 teams is what drives you then I’m the wrong bloke to coach the kids.

The parents loved me because I was fair yet the committee of c u n t s hated me.

Funny that.

Parental abuse was worse by committee parents than ordinary parents in many cases.
