Tranmere Rovers, FA Cup 1st Round Proper, Saturday 5th November

It is extremely important to get through this round and get the £41,000 prize money. This is the last competition in which there is prize money for each round. Thus far we have just £10,000 from the EFL Trophy match against Fleetwood Town. We need to get past Round Two, worth another £67,000 and into Round Three at Old Trafford. Some television money for 'live' coverage in Round Two would be welcome. Let's be frank, we are desperate for money, we have not got a pot to put a plant in, probably heading for insolvency and ceasing to exist.

So, let's hope that Tuesday's Tranmere Rovers v Stockport County is a well fought very robust encounter, tempers flaring, in order that Tranmere Rovers have less to offer in opposition to us on Saturday in the FA Cup.

The Tranmere Rovers away support may be a tad trimmed by the fact that the team has not scored in the last 231 minutes of play.

Probably Southampton thought that loaning Simeu to Tranmere Rovers this season was a step up for him. Perhaps in some respects they were correct, such as in terms of facilities and equipment. But in terms of playing the game his situation is most assuredly not better. Maybe Paul Simpson did not ask for Simeu to return to Carlisle United as we could do better in terms of players being currently fully up to regular League Two matches rather than a 'project' playing at centre back.

Simeu was enthusiastic and a good club man, but nowhere near the finished article.

Based on what I saw of him in our recent game I think he would struggle to get regular games with us now, having to compete with Feeney, Huntington and Mellish, backed up by Whelan and Barclay.

From what I saw on iFollow he hasn’t progressed since he was with us, in fact he looked slightly worse. Cue a reversal tomorrow with him banging in the winner.

Whatever happens, I hope our lot give him a good reception - remember what happened with Harry McKirdy?

We have 19 contracted senior professional players, 5 loanees and 7 development players.
Last Saturday Paul Simpson said that the 18 on match day duty were the only ones available.
For the Cup match against Tranmere Rovers it seems likely that up to 3 senior players from
last Saturday will be out of the match. It is possible that 2 of the unavailable players from last
Saturday could return but will they be totally 'at it'?

I have a deep foreboding about this FA Cup match. We are out of the League Cup and EFL Trophy
with just £10,000 in prize money. The winning clubs in this round each get £41,000 and can dream
of reaching round 3 to be drawn away at Manchester United. This Tranmere match is financially
crucially important and we go into it barely able to put out an 18 at all, regardless of quality.

In FA Cup matches the home club keeps 45% of gate money, the FA gets 10% and the away club
    gets 45%.

VPN 11 Euros though our lot often don’t open for business until late in the day. Of course it’s the Cup so maybe not.
