    Unhappy Playing the Burnley Toon.

12 months ago, Newcastle United were in deep relegation do-do alongside us.

Chuck the old Burnley lot into the mix, Howe, Wood, Trippier and Pope and they are pushing for a place in the Champions League.

Garlick has an awful lot to answer for.

All we lacked in the Prem were some quality strikers to keep us there. Now we need quality defenders and a goalie, a bit ironic. We most need a Pope Mk. 2

Eddie has done an incredible job at Newcastle, it's certainly surprised me, especially as his time at Burnley was unremarkable to say the least.

I don't know if Radio Lancashire keep records to confirm what I said in a phone-in following a Howe inspired home win, but I suggested Eddie had such a demeanour about him it was inevitable he would manage our national team one day.

I see nothing to suggest I was wrong.

He probably will manage England at some point, but Gareth will likely be out of a job after the World Cup and Eddie would be foolish to leave Newcastle for England any time soon. Could be the England manager after next.

Eddie pulled off a miracle at Bournemouth, now another one in the Northeast, the sky's the limit for this lad.

By PL standards he's spent next to nothing,

    Wood £25k
    Trippier £12k
    Guimareas £35k
    Burn £13k
    Targett £15k
    Pope £10k
    Botman £32k

Players who Pep and Klopp wouldn't look twice at, and one big buy this summer, Isak for £63k from Real Sociedad, who played the first 3 games and has been out injured ever since. Financial backing from Saudi Arabia he may have, but one thing is for certain, he hasn't bought his way into the top 3, he most certainly hasn't used the Saudi's financial muscle to get Newcastle where they are.
