    Var

You can't keep VAR out of it for long, another couple of laughable decisions in the England game, thankfully they made no difference to the outcome, but just wait, it's early days yet and they're in full cock up mode already.

Nowt to do with VAR sinkov, that's FIFA blatantly inciting cheating on a grand scale.

Maguire was wrestled to the ground, and it did not even go to a review, Iran were later awarded a penalty for a wee tug on a shirt.

It's cheating by FIFA on a grand scale. I can hardly not wait for what the eejits will dream up next.

I expect "sanctions" against the Iranian team for not singing their national anthem or perhaps against our lot for cocking up the words when singing ours.

I tried to stay open minded about VAR, understand it’s potential benefits, recognising that referees are fallible.

However, I really fail to see the point of it.

Goals are chalked off for being 1 cm offside, whilst blatant fouls are overlooked, and therefore condoned.

VAR is as subjective as a referee and therefore open to inconsistencies that infuriate the fans and, I think, spoil the drama of a match.

Second only to winning is the pleasure of verbally abusing the referee’s failings, except when they benefit the Clarets.

Time to get rid of VAR and go back to the halcyon days of being able to complain that «*we was robbed*» by a short-sighted, fat, stupid referee of questionable parentage.

    Those were the days.

It is not going to happen Swiss, in fact, it will get worse still at the top level of football.
How many officials are involved in each match at the World Cup? In case you don't know, there are now 10 officials allocated to each game.
This is still the same game that used to have 3 officials doing a bloody good job and ensuring that 46 English League games took place every weekend.

Each World Cup game had a Referee, 2 x Assistant Referees, a 4th Official, Reserve Assistant Referee, Video Assistant Referee, Assistant Video Assistant Referee, Offside Video Assistant Referee, Support Video Assistant Referee and a Standby Assistant Video Assistant Referee.

Do they get it right all the time? One day, FIFA hope that they will and we shall have seen the perfect game of football ---which is their quest. Don't hold your breath!

Are we you suggesting that the Saudis had somehow 'bought' the VAR officials mon ami ? They get it wrong for fun them feckers, money doesn't come into it. And did Iran buy them as well, they didn't even look at Maguire being wrestled to the ground ?

Prior to one of yesterday's games a snapshot was recorded of the game in question's "VAR Studio". It had about 8 refereeing personnel all dressed up in referee's outfits and they still got the decisions wrong.

Bribery and corruption have been the modus operandi for this farce of a World Cup from the get-go, why change now?

If it was bribery and corruption then VAR wouldn't exist, it's much easier to bribe a single referee in sole charge of a game, than a whole platoon of them operating in a studio with their every move being scrutinised. You're way off the mark here mon ami, herding cats would be a doddle compared to bribing the VAR circus to tilt decisions in your favour.

You have to remember that VAR is always right, no matter what. If VAR says that it is offside then it is offside ---FIFA say so.
Offside is the only thing that is definite as far as VAR is concerned because everything else such as handball, dangerous tackles, penalties etc., etc. are open to interpretation of the onfield officials and the VAR official.
Having said all that, in the Morocco v Croatia match a ball was a good 6 inches over the goal line when it was crossed into the centre but the AR did not give it!
