    Xmas song royalties.

    This might interest you.

The link shows what the estimate is for earning for Xmas favourites over the festive period, it multiplies in real time.

    No wonder Noddy retired early!

Almost without exception, they are cr@p. Some of the worst, which are not on that list, are the dreadful Bing Crosby miserable ditties. By the way, the Jonah Lewie contribution to this ‘festive’ earache, Stop the Cavalry, was not written as a Christmas song at all. Adding to the miserable weather at this time of year, one’s aural senses are assaulted from mid-November, or in some cases, even earlier, in supermarkets and other emporia by these dreadful compositions. Money for old rope doesn’t even come close to describing this stuff; mind you, it’s still far preferable to rap, which can succinctly be described by a rhyming word.

As a kid I used to love Xmas songs and tbh even now I quite enjoy hearing some of them when they first start getting played but problem is that they start being played far too early and then they seem to be on repeat everywhere. Small wonder we get thoroughly pissed off with hearing them well before Xmas day itself.

There are a few Xmas songs I like but have to agree with Ketts that most are just rubbish. As for rap and hip-hop, there are a few songs I don't mind and some I even quite like but overall that whole genre -including it's grime offspring- does nothing for me.
