    Lee Mason

Is this the first sign of the new broom clearing out some of the old guard dead wood (hopefully replaced with people who know what they are doing) Or is it too much to hope - Will changes filter down to the lower leagues as well

It is too much to hope Scoop. Humans make mistakes all the time, and sometimes bad ones. In society you often hear "We must ensure that this kind of thing never happens again" Which of course is utter rubbish. With Humans you get the good the bad and the ugly. Things will always happen unless we all get lobotomies and walk around like mindless Zombies. (Then even the good things wont happen either)

”Mindless zombies”, we already have them, haven’t we!? I e, overpaid primadonnas in the PL, useless and inept refs, even more useless and inept VAR-officials etc, etc…

When Nuno was our manager, he was fined £25,000 for criticizing Mason. But we are not one of the BIG six. As soon as one of them complains (Arsenal) he gets the boot. One rule for them and one rule for the rest of us.

Against Southampton recently, our player gets a yellow for ambling towards the referee. It's his second yellow so a red follows and we not only then have to play with ten men, but we loose him for our next game. Later that evening nine Man City players surround the referee, how many yellows were dished out? Zero. And Robertson, Liverpool, seen clearly using abusive language to the referee. A card , again zero. If it had been a player outside the big six it would certainly have been a card.

The referees have got to be more consistent or the game is going to disintegrate into a farce.

I was playing Sunday football into my 40’s in the early 2000’s.

In the Kidderminster Sunday League you only had to utter “bloody” or “that’s a s h I t decision” and it was at least a red card.

I’ve never understood as to why, just because it’s “professional” football, that players can blatantly tell a ref to “f u c k off”, call him a “c u n t” or tell him he’s “a cheat”.....!?

The example starts at the top.

I also don’t want people like Souness saying “it’s a man’s game” if a zero tolerance rule was introduced......it clearly isn’t from the pathetic way they roll around at the slightest touch.

I would ban any form of swearing at a ref and bring in long bans for any manager or player who gets within 5 yards of a ref.

I’m no fan of refs by the way but they need to not feel so intimidated by the big clubs especially.

Doesn’t happen in Rugby and that is a man’s game, any abuse towards the ref and it’s bye bye…

We used to have a ref in the 60's who used to come into the dressing room before the match and warn us that if anyone started to mouth off then he would give a free kick against that player from the spot where he was standing. We soon got the message!

The referees just aren’t strong enough in my opinion. Yes, they’re quick enough to hand out yellow cards for a completely innocuous tackle but when it comes to sorting out players who roll about in agony when hardly toched, all forms of time wasting, tugging and holding in the penalty area, surrounding the referee in droves, bad mouthing a referee etc., they do nothing.
Take all this holding in the area, if a defender does it, point to the spot and if an attacker, give a free kick. Players would soon get the message but they don’t. To hold or grab a player at a corner is just accepted. However, if it happens outside the area a free kick is given.

Another thing I’d do is create team kit out of a material that disintegrates if tugged.

ANY shirt pull if I was reffing would be a free kick or penalty even if this lead to 8 a side and a score of 13-13.
