    How it could play out

Looking at the table and fixtures I think that the magic 50 point mark will certainly be enough this year, 48 and GD might also keep a team up. So where do we fit in with that.

5 points in 5 games to reach the fifty that is 1 W and 2D, you would have to say the games most likely to give us those are the Wigan, Cardiff and Bristol games. I think we can scrape 4 points from the 5 games but we have to start creating chances. When pundits look at form they tend to use the last 6 games, well we have won one in the last 6 and only scored in 2 of those games, 3 of those goals were from set pieces. We have not been a team that concedes a lot (hopfully that stays the same) but we need to find a way to get at least a goal a game, the lack of goals generally is a concern. We know that we are struggling for players, but if Fergie plays we have someone that can take a set piece, I think we missed that yesterday.

What about the other 4 in the fight to stay up. I don't think Blackpool and Wigan will have enough to catch us so I am focusing on the one additional place. QPR and Reading although in awful form do have some quality players that if they lift their personal games can win a football match, Hudders have the Warnock effect and Cardiff well they looked better than us the other week.

When the relegation axe is raised above your head, teams tend to find a couple of results from somewhere, I have a feeling that all 4 below us will do that, yes I know that form says otherwise but I prefer to look at it worst case scenario.

QPR - I think that rockstar boy will be able to lift them on the last game of the season at home to win if they have to to stay up, I can also see them getting something from Norwich or Stoke so i will say 48 points but a worse GD than us

Huddersfield - Warnock will get them up to get points and they play cardiff and Reading, I can see them on 49 points and that includes beating Reading on the last day

Reading - Yesterday will boost them and they do have some good players, I see them losing to Huddersfield but winning against Wigan, they might get another one as well, in a glass half empty world I will say 6 points so 48 points with a -16 GD

Cardiff - I think these are the hardest to guess and that our game at home to them will be crucial, certainly don't think that we can lose that game, we don't want them sending us down again!!. 49 Points -13 GD

I do think we have to win one more match and I think it has to come in the next 4 games, I hope we don't fall into the thinking of the last relegation as the games go by with no win always thinking we have enough. I do think we really have to go for it at Bristol that could be our saving game, knowing then that a draw at home to Cardiff would realistically be enough.

All guess work I know, but that is the fun

Agree with most of that. There will however be some unexpected results.

It would be nice if we have at least 49 points going in to the Wigan game. They will surely be down by then and have no pressure on them.

Hi Perigord, take your point but, IF a team is already down, they like nothing better than to take them with you that's what I fear. They've nothing to play for so just go for it to hurt you.

Against Burnley for me we have got to go 442,Saturday our troubles against Luton was we couldn’t keep the ball in their half it just kept coming straight back there was no pressure on them to hurry & they just passed it about.

Hello from a Bristol City fan in peace.

Ahead of our forthcoming game I’m putting together the opening post for our forum’s (One Team in Bristol, https://www.otib.co.uk/?_fromLogin=1) match thread, which will be posted the day before the match.

I would like to include some perspectives from your fans so if anybody would like to share info please do, anything would be appreciated, fans thoughts about the game, players who have represented both clubs, tales from when we’ve met previously, a fans view on your season, etc, etc.

Look forward to receiving info and to a great game.

The problem is some of the "winnable games" are the ones we have flunked in the last few trips to this level.

Can't play 4-4-2 we need 3 central midfielders playing we'd be too open to the opposition if not.
