    Resin driveways?

I’m about to revamp my driveway and the rear of my house and the favoured option is to go for a resin finish rather than block paving or traditional tarmac.

Anyone on here got resin or had it previously?

I know someone who has mick and I was just commenting to the wife that after many years it still looks great.

    Cheers mate.

It’s very expensive to put down but we can’t be doing with all the weeding and maintenance paving requires.

My eyes nearly popped out when the builder I normally use quoted £27k to get the rear block paved and the lawn edged and the borders and to build a dwarf wall.

To have resin increases the cost by about 50%😳

Unbelievably, the ground works alone are £100 per square metre these days and a resin topping is between £60 and £72 per square metre.

£172 per square metre is a hell of a lot of money in my eyes, a sign of how things have gone in the past couple of years.

I had our drive done a couple of years back. We had a narrow drive with a messy unkempt front lawn next to it. I wanted to ditch the lawn cus I hate mowing. Had a couple of quotes for a simple tarmac drive

They come along armed with tape measures and clipboards, measuring up and jotting down figures as they do. One company quotes £7000 for lawn removal, tarmacing etc and the other quotes £8500 for the same job. I was shocked at the prices for what appeared a small job.

Then along comes a gypsy and his mates knocking doors who quotes £2000 - he got the job and amazingly still looks pretty good.

Get rid of the drives and get a front lawn. The country is drowning.

I’m considering a self binding gravel, no way near as expensive as resin but the price of materials seem to have jumped so much compared to a year ago.

It’s not what is traditionally used for drives and backyards..it depends on what look you are going for.

https://youtu.be/q8EFLTmv8Tk video shows what it is. You apply your sub mot and then this is placed on top, then compacted. It gives a sort of Bath, mediterranean look and feel if that’s what you want it to look like. Which is what i’m going for. It won’t be for everyone, especially if you’ve already opted for resin. It’s uses might be different to what you need it for.

A really interesting watch Regis thank you.

I’ll still go for resin but it’s good for thought.
