Had A Bit Of A Think About Things Today

I think it's fair to say the majority of us were taken in a little by Duff in various degrees .

Just supposing everything isn't what it seems and maybe just maybe Duff's walked because the club haven't been straight with him .

There seems to be a wall of silence coming from the CEO and the Chairman , not a peep , gone underground until the dust settles it seems .

Wacky JAQ is running round twitter desperately trying to rally the troops , the more she tweets the more desperate they look .

Not heard anything from Duff either , not a thank you , kiss my ass or goodbye that I've seen .

    Very strange .

The more I think about it the more I smell a rat .

Obviously you haven’t read Duffs statement.

Nowt to do with Duff being a sly shallow person then ???
Back to the default position - it’s all the fault of the directors 😂

Yeh funny that , when posters were saying that Duff indeed was a fraud or just simply a mercenary your view was that he was simply feeding his family and that's football .

Needing to stop thinking implies that at least I do think about things .

I suspect the boards Tommy Opposite just feeds off others and simply flips it the other way .

My three old grandson is going through the same thing at the moment .

If Barnsley Town Hall collapsed you would blame the directors of Barnsley Football Club.
So whatever I say, others on here, those on the BBS or indeed the directors themselves - you will always blame the directors of Barnsley Football Club.
    No matter what.
As I’ve said in the past - instead of whining all the time, come the next supporters meeting yer need to get off yer ar@e and make an effort to go and talk to the directors face to face.

The mention of the Town Hall and talking to the directors face to face led my thoughts immediately to the question, "Which of the director's faces were you talking to ?"

I'm not sure why the views of BBS posters are relevant to you Nudge, unless of course you long to be back amongst them.

The Supporters Trust/ Fan Engagement / Meet Khaled gatherings always seem to me to be a meeting of club loyalists willing to give a nod of acceptance / agreement at any answer or non answer given by anyone from the club. They should be seen for what they are--Public Relations exercises every few months.

i think that to have a questioning mind over what comes out of the club is far better than the blind acceptance of every word. After recent times it is the triumph of experience over hope.

Having read the statement on the official website released by the club both the chairman and CEO have thanked Duff and Duff has reciprocated. Seemed an amicable parting of ways.

There might be something that we don't know about behind the scenes. That would stay in house anyway.

Fact is that he's gone and we start over yet again. It's like having thi favourite song on repeat for a couple of hours. Tha gonna grow sick of it in the end

I think that the club having stated that they offered Duff both a new contract & a salary increase suggests that there wasn"t a great deal wrong on the relationship front , having given the whole episode a lot of thought I believe Duff to be a very ambitious man & has used the club as a stepping stone to the next level , I also believe he will try to do this with Swansea who are a middle of the road club where with shrewd management there is scope to improve things thus putting Duffs stock on a higher plane with a view to him moving himself up the football food chain . I read Mr Duff all wrong, I had it in my head that he saw Barnsley as a project & would see it through but I now see it as project Duff & it is personal ambition which is his foremost thought , I have blamed the club for many things but on this occasion I believe Duff has engineered the situation & not the club, by his own admittance he said he knew about the interest before the play off final which indicates what ever the outcome of the final might have been it would not deter the track that he has decided will take his career forward & an established championship club is less of a risk going forward than a yo yo club , hence phase 3 of the rise of Mr Duff has been implemented .

I feel as if I have been had by a very clever con man. I have never been "scammed" (yet) but I feel as if I have been had this time. The lovey dovey farewell statements capped by Duff saying "You Reds" are PR cliches which stick in my craw.

The owners were hoping for a further year riding Duff's coat-tails and made belated efforts to keep him but his head and ambition were being stoked by interest from elsewhere well before the Play Off Final. I am assuming the club knew about these approaches from other clubs.

Financial deficits and the wrong outcome in the "Sh1t or Bust" season will need to be covered by player trading this summer and then we "Go Again Together". We can rest easy because Ahmad has said "We will be smart".

Duff is ambitious and Barnsley clearly aren't. That looks to be the fundamental issue here

    Nearly right.
Duff is ambitious and wants to move up the leagues as quickly as possible and wants Championship football this coming season.
Barnsley are ambitious - but unfortunately are in the 1st Division so don’t match Duffs ambitions this coming season.
Consequently and unfortunately Duff has left Barnsley for a Championship club.

But this thread is really about more than that.
IMO it’s about having a bad day and coming home and kicking the dog.
In this case the dog is in the shape of Barnsley Football Club and its directors.
