My slacks are cleaned and pressed

Have done at least 1 day of an Ashes Lord's Test since 97 and watched plenty of Waugh & Co make runs and England roll over to McGrath and Warne . This year we are there for 3 days. Can't wait. Love the atmosphere of Lord's. No flags, musical instruments and slacks apart no fancy dress but you can take in a bottle and a picnic. So much more 'adult'

    Wot no Foakes!

I’m not riding to the bait! 😏

England now have a hideously long tail and no outright pace.

We need to bowl really tightly and get them out cheaply because with Starc back in for them ( I’m presuming ) then they are not going to be going for 400+ in either innings.

I reckon we lose 1-4 or 0-5 this summer.

No bait! My daughter prompted it when she called and asked if they were ready. She knows how much I'm like a big kid when on my way to Lord's.

I'm all for a bit of flamboyance but don't they look total burkes? Someone tell Ketts2 his tie has to reach his belt.

I bet there's a lot of money in that photo. Merchant Bankers (or similar) all?

Nothing wrong with a bit of flamboyance and eccentricity. I would hate to see this sort of tradition lost to the game.

I wish we had done only our usual 1 day. It starts with a full English, short walk to the station, cab to Lord's, picnic lunch and a steak in our favourite Italian to round off the day. A special occasion. Much better cricket yesterday but I didn't wake up with the usual excitement. Not there today back again Saturday. Irrespective of the match position I'm not too enthusiastic about doing it all over again. Old age?
